HD display 5.0″, chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core up to 1.4 GHz, 1/2 GB of RAM, 4G LTE connectivity: Moto G should continue to offer excellent value for money even in its third generation.
As we saw it was a day full of ads for Motorola, which has chosen the last days of July to bring to the table its innovations: in addition to the new Motorola Moto X, available in two versions, comes the moment of renewal for Motorola Moto G.
The formula of a phone from solid features, but offered at an affordable price and worked Motorola continues to beat on the same key: HD display 5.0″, chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core up to 1.4 GHz, 1/2 GB of RAM, 4G LTE connectivity.
Compared to older siblings with a water-repellent finish in this case the phone is waterproof with IPX7 certification, with immersion up to 1 meter for thirty minutes. The camera was equipped with optical wide-angle f/2.0 and sensor 13-megapixel camera with dual flash CCT and is capable of recording 1080p movies; the front relies instead on a 5 megapixel sensor.
It starts from the Moto G, positioned in the mid-market. Since the 2014 model inherits much of the design (IPX7 now certified for diving in the water short-term), the display 5″ 720p (with Corning Gorilla Glass 3) and the particular configuration of the front speakers.
At the heart, we find one of the main novelties, the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core 64-bit 1.4 GHz with Adreno graphics chip 306. The details of RAM and storage space on board have been deliberately left out, at least for now and re tackle later.
A stand out particularly is the cure for the photographic industry, a field on which the latest Motorola have so far excelled: the rear unit is now 13 megapixels, with aperture f / 2.0, the field of view of 76 °, auto focus (in control Manual Focus), two-tone LED flash, Auto HDR, burst mode and Quick Capture feature to enter shooting mode by turning the wrist.
The sensor also recognizes barcodes and QR when framed. The video recording is 1080p at 30 fps, with HDR and slow motion option. The front camera, in line with recent trends to favor selfie, is 5 megapixel with a fixed focus, again with HDR, aperture f / 2.2 and ability to use the screen as a kind of flash.
Connectivity time is full regardless of the version chosen, with LTE that sits alongside the other more traditional networks and Wi-Fi 802.11n. Do not miss double accelerometer, dual microphones, GPS / AGPS, Bluetooth 4.0, sensors for ambient light and proximity.
The energy sector, finally, has a 2,470 mAh non-removable battery that promises an average of 24 hours continuously. Preloaded Android 5.1.1 are almost pure, with customizations that Motorola just limited to a few additional applications as Assist and Alert.
The Moto X Style represents the final step, intended to compete at the high end. In addition to building a more polished with metal, IP52 certified, on the aesthetic than the Play has a slightly larger screen of 5.7 ” and a resolution Quad HD 1440×2560 (yes, the same iMac 27 ” non-Retina). Inside always includes the Mobile Computing System, but with a Snapdragon 808 6-core 1.8 GHz as a central unit and Adreno 418 graphics; RAM comes to 3 GB. The 21 Megapixel of Moto X Play and the characteristics of the Moto G rear camera of this top of the range adds a different phase detection auto focus, closed-loop processing and 4K video recording at 30 fps with stabilization.
To the front sensor enhancements most relevant are the f / 2.0 aperture and flash. Confirmed LTE (Category 6, up to 300 Mbps) and NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac MIMO passes here while Bluetooth is version 4.1. The battery from 3,000 mAh is designed to ensure a full day of use, with the possibility to get 10 additional hours of autonomy in 15 minutes through the support to the rapid charging.
Available in 8/16GB offers MicroSD support up to 32 GB. The operating system is Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, while Moto Assistant, Moto Display and Moto Actions are the features added by the US giant. The battery 2,470 mAh should provide 24 hours of battery life with a mixed use. The price is expected to remain in line with the current, lower than $400/$500 from the current top of the range as Samsung Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6.
