Canon and Nikon have not yet managed to shine in the mirrorless segment. Their solutions have not received the acclaim that continues to get the SLR, so the industry is headed up by others, specifically Panasonic, Olympus, Sony, Fujifilm. On some choices, you cannot change your mind easily, such as the size of the sensor, which once decided should remain uniform throughout the system, while for the physical and functional characteristics, there is time to correct the roll in the race.
It seems that Nikon wants to create a new V3 correcting the bad style ” futuristic ” V2, knowing now that the vintage look almost pulls more technical specifications, while Canon has just unveiled the new Canon EOS M2 without changing virtually nothing in terms of design, focusing solely on the technical characteristics.
The overall size was slightly reduced, an 8% less to make the camera even more compact. The 18MP sensor will greatly enhance the performance of the focus thanks to the Hybrid CMOS AF II, the same as that seen in the Canon 100D (review). The image processor is the DIGIC 5 and the sensitivity ranges from 100 to 12,800 with extension up to 25,600. Burst stands instead of 4.6 fps.
Another added feature in the Canon EOS M2 is the Wi-Fi module, through which you can control the camera remotely with the EOS Remote app installed on a smartphone or tablet. No other significant developments to report, and even if you still do not know the official prices, we know that the availability date should be before the end of December and could be positioned more or less where it was the Canon EOS M at launch, for which we expect a cost of about $650.
