First touch with the Crucial BX200 series of Solid-State Drives , who does not hide the intention to attack the consumer market with excellent prices and good technical characteristics.
We recently article the presentation by Crucial, a new series of SSD for the consumer world, which is indicated by the initials BX200. The new series is designed as a replacement of the existing (and appreciated) BX100, as well as the family of solid-state drives to be offered at competitive prices in order to gain significant market share.
The Crucial BX200 SSD interface is SATA 6 Gbps, while the form factor responds to what is now the industry standard, which is a slim 2.5-inch and 7 mm thick. The controller used is indicated by the initials SM2256; it is a controller made by Silicon Motion with 4 channels. Marvell alternative to that can be found on other models Crucial.
These performances in reading push up to 540 Mb/s regardless of the cuts (240 GB, 480 GB and 960 GB), while those in writing are close to 490 MB/s. The data declared closed with the IOPS read/write random 4K, respectively 66000 and 78000, while the NAND Flash chips are made with TLC 16nm manufacturing process. There is also a buffer memory DDR3 which can be 256, 512 and 1024 MB depending of the cuts.

Warranty | 3 years |
You can see that the values read, in these tests, are aligned to those declared, at least in the contexts in which they were examined. Those writing are slightly lower, but it is a still excellent value for SSD designed to attack the market with prices of attack. We would include equipment units Crucial BX200: in addition to the plastic frame for installation in rooms of the standard 7mm thicker, we find the data migration software Acronis True Image HD, as well as the tools Crucial Storage Executive for the management unit.
The Crucial MX200 SSD proves that for sure if the plays with the other models offered by competitors for the same price. Benchmark tests tell us that in terms of transfer rates of the data declared by the manufacturer are confirmed 100%, and when you go to I/O values we could not see numbers approaching entirely to those seen in the data sheet, this at least in reading; write the difference is rather less but still below the 87,000 IOPS.
The warranty is 3 years, the MTTF of 1.5 million hours and the potential of writing total of 72 TB, than for any consumer Crucial equates to approximately 40 GB per day for 5 years (oddly are counted and not the five years 3 of the guarantee).
