The popular browser Mozilla has made in recent hours a new step forward with the release of Firefox 45 (stable version) and for desktop systems (PC, Mac and Linux), both for smartphones and tablet equipped with the Android operating system.

Firefox 45 for Windows, MAC OS X and Linux.

Version 45 of Firefox for desktop introduces a number of innovations, corrections and modifications of existing functions. The new features include:

  • Sharing tab via Hello : ” Welcome to Firefox Hello. From this version, totally renewed, each time you invite a friend in a conversation the web page will also be shared you are visiting. Organize. Buy. You decide. In the company. “
  • The tabs synced via Firefox accounts of other devices now appear in the dropdown of Awesome Bar when searching (for more information on the operation of the Awesome Bar and the elements that can be identified by the Smart Search, please refer to this address).
  • Button tabs synchronized with other devices in the Toolbar. The button can be added at the discretion of selecting the menu button, click on ” Customize ” and dragging its icon to the desired position (see here for more details).

  • Added support to the Guarani language.

The fixes include several security updates (see here) and specific ones that determine the correct redirects for URLs containing an IDN (Internationalized Domain Name) Unicode. Finally, you have removed the Tab Groups feature. All groups of existing tabs have been moved in the Bookmarks folder. Firefox 45 for Android

Mozilla developers have not neglected the users in possession of a device based on the OS of Google’s mobile rolling out the new mobile version and documenting in detail the changes that can be summarized as follows:

  • It now possible to block images or upload them only in the presence of WiFi connectivity. This can be useful to reduce the consumption of data. To select the content to be uploaded simply follow the path Menu > Settings > Advanced > Show Pictures and choose one of the options now available: Always (loads images both in the presence of data connectivity, both in the presence of WiFi), only with WiFi ( loads images only if there is WiFi connection) and Block (completely avoids the loading of images).
  • Notification system to send a message EOL (End of Life) to Android Honeycomb users.
  • Added a toggle to disable the sharing of the camera and microphone in the administration interface of the options related to browsing for families (see here for more details).
  • Introduces a new preference (network.dns.blockDotOnion) to allow you to block .onion at the DNS level.

Even in the case of Android version we were introduced important security updates (see here) and was correct handling of URLs containing a IDN (Internationalized Domain Name) Unicode.

The changes introduced since the previous version include to also deactivate the function that allows you to include the URL when you share selected text from web pages, optimizing and reorganizing the app settings, replacement of ” super toast notifications ” with the ” snack bar ” (see here) and, most recently, the simplified interface that allows you to set the restricted profiles for each family member.
