The new Mini Jambox by Jawbone Bluetooth cash that promises quality sound in an extremely compact package featuring materials and sophisticated design. Here’s how it goes this accessory is compatible with iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Jawbone has made its way into the world of wireless amplifiers for the iPhone (and all Bluetooth products in general) and its role as an innovative company that focuses on performance, materials, and design and now tries to renew its fame with its launch just a few days Mini makes the Jambox, a reissue of the Jambox that has shocked the field amplifiers in small size at the end of 2010, making this San Francisco company a true icon among those who have mobile devices that use especially for listen to music.
We are put to work for a review of the Mini Jambox, to see how much of that early lead, remained in control of Jawbone compared to a scenario now much more crowded.
MINI JAMBOX – Materials, Design and Accessories.
Jawbone, as mentioned, a tip massively on the style and the Mini Jambox is no exception. It is a very interesting product again signed by Yves Behar, a designer who knows how to draw simple shapes, objects that strike, using perforated elements and the pace geometry that use spaces in low relief and high relief.
The Mini Jambox fits perfectly into this philosophy of style, putting it a wise use of colors (there are nine different, all mol to bright red, silver, graphite, blue, green, purple, yellow, orange, blue) and of the modeled geometry (five different types of carved). In addition to that, Jawbone relies on an extruded aluminum case, which gives a feeling of superior finishes ran g unknown to competitors, even prestige.
The dimensions are reduced, even if not disrupted, compared to the previous Jambox both in terms of footprint tax authorities (in particular, particular the thickness is 2.5 cm against the Jambox 4) and weight (255 grams versus 340 grams). Jawbone advertises the Mini Jambox as a pocket-sized device, we are not perfectly sure that we can put it in the front pocket of a pair of skinny jeans, but certainly in a jacket or a pair of cargo accessory is there and his weight, combined with the battery life (10 hours jawbone talks, which seem realistic by the use we have done), making it suitable for widespread use on the move.
In the box, as the tiny Mini Jambox, we will find an equally tiny set of accessories: a USB cable for charging and updating, and a cable to connect it to the jack of the devices that are free of Bluetooth. There is no power supply, so we have to use a computer with a USB port or an accessory sold separately. It also lacks the housing that was present in the original box from the Jambox.
MINI JAMBOX – The Software and Hardware features.
Jawbone uses a variety of software solutions to add value to its devices and the Mini Jambox is no exception. You can download an accessory to the menu of the browser used with Mac allows you to edit and manage some of the functions of the amplifier. We may, for example, enable other item’s guide (Mini Jambox has a system that allows you to have to voice information on battery life, configuration and connection status) and languages. Using this application, we can also load the new firmware when Jawbone decides to update it.
Unfortunately, the procedures for conducting these operations are still a bit rough, and it should create an account, download an installer, launch the browser, say to your Mac (or PC) you must use the accessory menu that is downloaded, enter the account, connect the box to the USB port and manage everything from your browser. In the future, it would be desirable that all this was done directly from a dedicated application like the manufacturers of other devices, without forcing us to use the site Jawbone, attractive from the point of view of graphics, but also rather awkward for the overflowing of animations and scrip.
There have also iOS and Android application that allows you to easily connect the Mini Jambox and manage playlists, but also to manage some functions such as LiveAudio, see the installed voices and so on. In any case none of the two software components, the service via the Web and one for iOS, there seemed essential because it does not change dramatically the listening nor provides an essential added value.
From the hardware point of view, the Jawbone accessory is an ergonomic product. Has three buttons in the upper part, one in the shape of “+ ” and one in the shape of ” – ” for the volume (but that also activate LiveAudio pressed together) and a multifunction key that serves to change tracks or to make telephone calls.
Who has a device with Siri can always use this key to be assisted by the function of iOS. On the side, we have a power button (which activates the device down with a distinctive two-tone sound, sharp and deep), a button for pairing Bluetooth (easy: no code required) and the Micro USB port for charging, flanked by ‘ analog input. The keys respond in an excellent manner. They are soft but not too much and at the same time not too mechanical.
Laterally, under the Bluetooth pairing button, we also have the microphone hole. The Mini Jambox also functions as a hands-free device with good-quality audio (although perhaps the level of our voice comes a little attenuated at our remote party) On the bottom, there are two rubber feet that make the Mini stable Jambox. Despite its small size and volume, rather remarkable for its size, also led to the maximum amplifier, contrary to what you read on the Internet, we have not seen moving an inch from the position where we have placed.
MINI JAMBOX – Conclusions.
The Mini Jambox is a quality product from the point of view of construction and design, made with extreme care and choosing materials and colors that allow Jawbone to maintain a distinctive look and exclusivity. From this point of view, the American company manages to retain a leadership and an ability to stand out in a crowded market by pulling other competitors and appealing to a sophisticated audience and willing to spend what it takes to have something visually unique also. Excellent also the relationship between size, performance and weight which makes the amplifier something that keeps all that it promises when it comes to music on the move.
As for the sound, the Mini Jambox, while remaining at a high level, it manages to be so clearly separate from other products that are in the same price range; Accessory Jawbone certainly offers for the target and the size, a good level of fidelity and agility, as it is medium-high and mid tones, acoustic music, jazz and pop, and is also good listening to songs where you need a good tonal balance, but slips on low.
The whole package in terms of audiophile (if you can never use a term of this type for a device of this size in total is therefore, good) end up staying in the top group, but probably if you look at the effect of ” wow ” , is better, even considering the price that bears the Mini Jambox at the high end of the category.
If you are looking for something relevant from the point of view of the attention to detail and style that is both portable and offering a good balance between size and sound, the accessory Jawbone is the Christmas gift that you could put in your list, provided that Santa Claus does not face the stingy too …
