Google announces Home Max: the smart speaker for the music lover
The new Google Home Max is opposed to Apple’s HomePod. It is a loudspeaker with integrated AI, but it can also be used with satisfaction for music listening.
During the same event, Google announced Google Home Mini and Google Home Max, which are based on all the features of artificial intelligence present on other models of the family. Unlike the Mini model, Home Max is all about audio quality. It is compared to Apple HomePod, official but not yet on the market: it is a stereo speaker compatible with Google Assistant, designed for music playback and Hi-Fi.
Inside the ” super-sized ” Google speaker, we find two 4.5-inch woofers and two tweeters that are covered by the usual wide-mesh fabric grid. Of course, there will be no lack of high-sensitivity microphones able to hear the voice commands of the users even when the speaker is playing music. Just like on HomePod, Google Home Max can also set up automatic equalization based on the acoustics in the room.
The technology is called Smart Sound, and uses machine learning to perform its own calculations on the basis not only of the environment but also of the type of sound source being played, be it a piece of music, a podcast or a voice call. It can also increase or decrease the volume according to what happens in the home, especially if the sound reproduction can be disturbed by an appliance (an active washing machine, for example).
The Google Home Max model can also be arranged in vertical orientation, it also supports touch controls, Bluetooth, is compatible with Google Cast and there is a 3.5 mm audio connector. Google Home Max will cost $ 399 when it will be launched publicly in December 2017 and the price will include 12 months of YouTube Music with guaranteed audio playback without a banner.
