Samsung, Here are the new NVME PCIe 970 EVO and 970 PRO SSD
With an expected move Samsung renews its SSD list with the presentation of the models 970 EVO and 970 PRO, intended for high-end consumer. Excellent features of the plate, with news on the front of the chip and controller compared to the previous generation.
Samsung presents two new series of high-performance SSD for the consumer world, namely the 970 EVO and 970 PRO lines. Both lines are equipped with CPIe interface and NVMe protocol, all with M.2 form factor. Let’s see them in detail.
Samsung 970 EVO
Both the Phoenix controller and the 64-layer NAND 3D chips make their debut in this series. They are 256Gb TLC 3D chips, but in the 2TB, we find the 512Gb, which makes it possible to offer very high capacity in a small space. Samsung 960 EVO units are available in single-sided M.2 format, with a 3 x4 PCIe interface and NVMe 1.3 protocol. The available capacities are 250GB, 500GB, 1TB and 2TB.
The plate values for the performance are 3400 MB/s reading for everyone, except for the 2 TB that reaches 3500 MB/s. The most articulate speech is the maximum writings: Samsung declares, finally, the values related to the writing with and without the help of the SLC cache used.
With SLC cache the values range from 1500 MB/s to 2500 MB/s proportionally based on the capacities, while no cache speaks of 300 MB/s (250GB), 600 MB/s (500GB), 1200 MB/s (1TB) and 1250 MB/s ( 2TB). The units are equipped with 512 MB to 2 GB LPDDR4 DRAMs. The SLC cache, on the other hand, varies from 4 GB to 6 GB in dedicated mode, while in dynamic range from 9 GB up to 72 GB for the 2 TB model.
Write endurance is 150 TB, 300 TB, 600 TB and 1200 TB respectively for 250 GB, 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB models.

Samsung 970 PRO
With the 970 PRO everything becomes easier, at least in the explanations. The available cuts are two, 512 GB and 1 TB, as well as the controller and the chips remain the same. The quantity of LPDDRAM4 is 512MB and 1GB respectively.
The read performance is fixed at 3500 MB/s for both models, while the writes are respectively of 2300 MB/s and 2700 MB/s, always and independently of everything, not using the SLC write caching. Another big difference is the Write Endurance, which is 600 TB and 1200 TB for the two denominations, that is double compared to EVOs of the same capacity.
