The new Panasonic Lumix G90 is the mirrorless camera that points to both compactness and portability. New design with improved ergonomics as well as different functions for those who not only take photos but also videos.
The new Panasonic Lumix G90 mirrorless camera that replaces the Lumix G8X range with several updates to allow it to confront the current market.
According to the company, Panasonic Lumix G90 focuses on compactness but also on features that do not only look at the photographic aspect but also on the video aspect. The new camera uses a MOS Digital Live sensor with 20.3 MPixel resolution without a low-pass filter while the images are processed by the Venus Engine processor.
To further improve the quality of the images, there is a stabilization on 5 Dual IS 2 axes as well as the optical stabilization support that can compensate up to 5 stops. Compared to the previous models we find a machine body that has a new design so that it is even more comfortable to hold, even when using only one hand. Resistance to splashes and dust is not lacking.
According to the company, the autofocus takes place in 0.07 seconds and high-speed burst shooting at 9 fps (AF-S) or 6 fps (AF-C) is not missing. Always linked to the focusing system, we find the Depth From Defocus (DFD) which allows to manage the variation of the movement of the subject to be framed.
The new Panasonic Lumix G90 camera also supports the detection of faces and eyes for focusing and three different modes for selecting the focus area (which can be up to detect up to 49 areas).
Panasonic Lumix G90 has a LVF viewfinder based on an OLED panel (2.36 million points) as OLED is also the rear display 3″ diagonal and 1.04 million points that can be used for framing as well as to review the photographs.
As originally written, the new mirrorless has a strong propensity for video and does not lack support for recording from 4K (3840×2140) to 30p / 25p (area 50 Hz)/30p (60 Hz) or 24p, Full HD (1,920×1,080) at 60p/50p (area 50 Hz), 60p (area 60 Hz) with continuous autofocus.
There’s also a 3.5 mm microphone jack and a headphone jack so you don’t have to take advantage of the integrated ones. There is also the possibility of recording slo-mo video with Full HD resolution at 120 fps (1/4x), 90 fps (1/3x) and 60 fps (1/2x).
The 4K Photo feature is not missing, but new features have also been introduced for the Panasonic Lumix G90. For example: we find the Sequence Composition which combines several shots in one and Auto Marking that automatically selects the best frames.
Connectivity is complete with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi so you can instantly share your shots even without the need for a PC that reads the memory card. The USB connector can be used for recharging allowing greater flexibility and better autonomy management (up to 900 clicks according to official data).
We find three buttons on the upper area that allow you to adjust exposure, ISO and white balance. In the rear area, the shooting and playback functions are concentrated. Furthermore, it is possible to customize the controls according to the user’s needs.
To improve the autonomy, the Panasonic Lumix G90 has an automatic standby function, while to reactivate it, just press the shutter halfway.
Panasonic Lumix G90 will be available from June 2019.
