Firefox 67 released, faster and safer than before: Here’s all the news
The new version of the Mozilla browser is drastically improved in the speed of uploading the scripts, and there are news also in terms of privacy and data protection.
In recent times, Firefox has been heavily challenged against other strong names in the browser world, and with the latest update released in recent hours, Mozilla promises a huge performance boost even – and above all – on systems with limited resources. The development team analyzed the browser in depth to detect which areas were revised and corrected to allow faster loading of web pages.
The result is a 40% to 80% faster upload with regard to some types of scripts, including those commonly found on everyday sites, such as Instagram, Amazon and Google. Furthermore, the parts of code that are not needed on a web page are not loaded regardless of how they were in the past: for example, the auto-fill form is loaded into memory only if there is a box on the page.
The news are not yet finished: starting from Firefox 67, or from the version just distributed in the official channel, the browser will suspend all the tabs not in use when the system will have available 400 MB of RAM or less. This should further improve performance in systems with scarce resources, with tabs that will still be activated with a simple click on them. Firefox will start faster than before, especially for those who use add-ons.
The browser will not load several ” unnecessary ” elements, freeing the system from calculations considered useless. There are also changes in terms of privacy and data protection: for example, it is possible to block scripts for cryptomining that use the CPU’s computing power to generate cryptocurrencies, and there is the possibility of blocking the operation of the extensions selectively in anonymous browsing mode.
All the news are already available in the public version of Firefox 67, available on the official website. Here instead, you find the release notes.
