How to speed up your PC startup

A slow PC on startup does not always hide viruses or hardware problems. Check the software settings before formatting or replacing components. A program should not only be installed. The settings must also be checked in detail, and some functions disabled.

In particular, to speed up the ignition just a few precautions are enough to disable the automatic start when the operating system is opened. The PC will last longer and maintain its performance.

Of course, PC performance is slowed down most of the time or due to a problem inside the computer itself, so some components that aren’t working at all or from dust inside the case if you have a fixed computer or even applications and the programs installed inside the PC. Let’s see how to speed it up.

The software

To speed up the PC at startup, there are different software. Some are completely free but undoubtedly effective. Proceed by managing your computer’s resources. Click on Start and then on Run. Write ” msconfig ” (without the quotes) and confirm with Ok.

A dialog box will appear. Then select the next to last tab, ” START “. This section lists all the programs in automatic opening at power up. Usually, they can cause a more or less obvious slowdown to the PC. Obviously, this software must be added and downloaded inside the computer. There are both free and paid programs.

The Programs

At this point, uncheck all those useless programs at startup. Be careful though, during this procedure! Never disable programs under ” COMMAND ” with a text like this ” C:\WINDOWS\system … ” . They are NECESSARY system programs at PC startup. Furthermore, unknown software with an uncertain function should not be disabled. For example, you can disable the wireless network card rather than the touchpad.

In a portable PC, this action could create serious problems. They are not irreversible damages, but require computer skills for a correct repair. Deactivate ONLY KNOWN PROGRAMS. In doing so, we tend to block the launch of all those programs that we don’t need during the automatic startup of the computer. This will speed up the computer itself and especially during the first boot.

Changes

Often the programs have a few anomalous names. To avoid making gross mistakes, enlarge the ” COMMAND ” tab. To understand its function exactly. To simplify the concept, consider an example. MSN Messenger shows the name ” msnmsgr “.

Expanding the COMMAND tab will read C:\Programs\Windows Live\Messenger. Reading will thus be facilitated. Disable software like MSN, Yahoo, Skype, Itunes, Java, and others that are not needed when the PC startup.

Then click on Apply and confirm with OK. Restart the PC as required to change the settings. When restarting, a screen will appear with the related changes. Click on OK again.

Note : Be careful when disabling startup programs. The slightest mistake could compromise the proper functioning of the PC.
