Fujifilm X-A7, the first in Fuji with a vari-angle dual-joint display
The new camera is designed for the public that approaches photography with interchangeable lenses coming from the smartphone and wants to reproduce the same ease of shooting, even leveraging on the large 3.5″ touch screen and 2760k pixels.
The small mirrorless travel segment is always successful and Fujifilm also presents its novelty today. This is the new Fujifilm X-A7, renewed in design, with a very pleasant appearance, which in the handle recalls the features of a decidedly larger mirrorless, the beautiful Hasselblad X1D.
The new camera is designed for the public that approaches photography with interchangeable lenses coming from the smartphone and wants to reproduce the same ease of shooting, even leveraging on the large 3.5″ touch screen and 2760k pixels.
The screen represents a novelty at Fujifilm, adopting the double vari-angle joint, which allows you to open the display sideways and rotate it completely forward, but also to use it easily for shooting from unusual angles.
A pocket camera, with a weight of only 320 grams without optics and 455 grams with the XC15-45mmF3.5-5.6 OIS lens of the assembled kit.
Fujifilm X-A7 adopts a traditional type APS-C CMOS sensor with a new 24.2 megapixel Bayer matrix primary color filter, probably produced by Sony on Fujifilm specifications. The sensor offers 8.5 times more phase detection points than the current Fujifilm X-A5 (91 zone phase detection) and should ensure a faster, more precise focusing on a larger area than the current one.
Short, as well as offering the Eye-AF function. The camera allows recording of 4K videos at 30p/25p/24p/23.98p and Full HD up to 60p. ” Countdown Video ” mode has been added, which is useful when uploading videos to social media. Videos are shot for a preselected duration: 15, 30 or 60 seconds, with the remaining time for the clip appearing on the screen.
Fujifilm has also updated the interface, with a new Smart Menu that should help those who are less accustomed to using sizes such as time, aperture and ISO sensitivity. About sensitivity, the camera has a native range of 200-12,800 ISO, extendable by one step down and two upwards.
The mechanical shutter works up to 1/4000s, while with the electronic shutter, it is possible to reach shutter speeds of 1/32,000s. The camera provides a small NG 4 pop-up flash.
Following what happens in the smartphone world, Fujifilm has integrated a new shooting mode called ” Light trails “, added to the ” Scene Position ” selection, which can be used to capture light trails from car headlights, for example: by controlling the effect on the LCD display in real time.
The camera is compatible with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connections and uses a USB-C connector for PC connection and charging. It mounts the classic lithium battery NP-W126S of the X Series sisters and offers an Economy mode that should bring the autonomy up to 440 shots (270 in standard mode).
Also suitable for YouTuber and VLogger, the camera uses, as unfortunately often happens in Fujifilm, a 2.5mm connector for microphone input. In packaging, users will find the adapter to use the classic 3.5mm jack cables.
FUJIFILM X-A7 in kit with XC15-45mmF3.5-5.6 OIS lens, in the Silver and Dark Silver versions, will be on sale from October 2019 at the suggested retail price of $769.99.
