New Fujifilm X-T200: Now with real 4K 30p footage and new vari-angle display
With a weight of 370g, the new X-T200 is about 80g lighter than the previous model and is equipped with a new swiveling touch-screen with ” vari-angle ” articulation, very convenient for videos and for shooting in positions unusual. Furthermore, finally, we have real 4K videos: it is possible to record 4K UHD 3840×2160 videos at 30p without crop.
Fujifilm X-T100 had been a camera that had surprised us: at a very affordable price and in a compact body, it provides a solid base for quality photographs. It does not belong to the series of cameras with an X-Trans sensor, based on a normal sensor with Bayer filter, but offers image quality comparable to the older sisters.
Today, Fujifilm presents its heir, the new Fujifilm X-T200, which starting from the base of the previous model, brings some important tweaks. The new mirrorless APS-C uses a classic 24.2 megapixel Bayer color matrix CMOS sensor, and Japanese technicians have worked to make it faster than the previous model, with a burst that now reaches 8 fps.
Furthermore, finally, we have real 4K videos: it is possible to record 4K UHD 3,840×2,160 videos at 30p without a crop, while the previous model stopped at the useless frame rate of 15 frames per second. Also, Fujifilm has integrated digital stabilization during video recording, for higher-quality videos.
We also find the possibility to record HDR videos. The merit is probably the new sensor, with a faster reading, which should also be less affected by the rolling shutter effect, according to Fujifilm’s statement. The sensor offers phase-detection pixels, as on the previous model, but the new Fujifilm X-T200 uses more advanced focusing algorithms and provides the Face/Eye Detection AF function.
