Huawei presents the new Mate Xs: the second folding that improves in all
On the occasion of the MWC 2020 (even if canceled), Huawei announces the arrival on the market of the new Huawei Mate Xs or the second generation of its folding smartphone.
Huawei presents new second-generation folding: Huawei Mate Xs. We speak clearly about the evolution of the first revolutionary who started this new concept of telephones.
In this case, Huawei has continued the development of its folding and has made it making it even more advanced, technologically speaking.
Here it now boasts a proprietary Kirin 990 5G processor but also an improved ” Falcon Wing ” design capable of offering not only a unique experience but also a powerful one.
Richard Yu, a CEO Huawei Consumer Business Group, said: “ HUAWEI Mate X was our first, folding and established a standard for the sector. HUAWEI Mate Xs further raises the bar by offering even more powerful connectivity and user experience. Built-in. It’s the fastest 5G smartphone in its class. Get ready to meet something you’ve never seen before – again. ”
Huawei Mate Xs: Here’s how it’s done now
The main feature of the new Huawei Mate Xs is undoubtedly that of having a folding display capable of making it pocket-sized like a smartphone but also usable as a tablet.
Here the new Mate Xs has an 8-inch FullView display that can be folded outwards, thanks to the mechanical hinge made by the company. Huawei has designed it to make the first version of the Mate X possible and is now being perfected with over 100 components capable of working to make every bend precise. The hinge is now made with a zirconium-based liquid metal that makes it even more resistant and linear once the display is fully open.
The display? The new Huawei Mate Xs is equipped with an innovative, flexible panel with a double-layer polymer structure. A novelty from this point of view with the characteristic of having two layers of aerospace polyimide joined by a transparent adhesive.
The uniqueness of this material allows the display to reproduce the image with high quality, maximum saturation, and brightness while maintaining a high degree of durability.
Here, in this case, the smartphone is double-screen with a 6.6-inch main display and a 6.38-inch secondary one. When opened, the smartphone transforms into an 8-inch tablet, offering an experience of viewing and gaming amplified and never had on any other smartphone.
On a technical level, Huawei also decides to include a Flying Fish Fin cooling system, custom-designed for the folding. The system uses flexible graphene with microscopic slots capable of folding together with the device and covering the entire surface for uniform and effective cooling.
Also new is the 5G antenna, the result of a long process of research and development, ready to guarantee stable and high-speed connectivity.
Huawei Mate Xs: the 5G at the top
On a technical level, Huawei Mate Xs is powered by the new Kirin 990 5G processor that the company has developed, taking it to a higher level. The SoC includes an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A76 custom cores, two large Cortex-A76 custom cores, and four small Cortex-A55 cores, which operate at a base clock of 2.86GHz.
The graphics processing is managed by the 16-core Mali-G76 GPU, the most powerful Huawei GPU, while the NPU built on Huawei’s Da Vinci architecture allows AI performance.
What should not be forgotten is the 5G connection that the new Kirin 990 5G will allow to make? Here it has an integrated 5G modem ready for simultaneously providing powerful performance and 5G connectivity with better efficiency and lower heat output. It supports different connection modes: 2G, 3G, 4G, as well as 5G NSA (not stand-alone) and SA (stand-alone). The SoC supports the full 5G and 5G+4G Dual SIM Dual Standby spectrum.
On a photographic level, Huawei continues to churn out ” top ” smartphones in the field of shots. Huawei Mate Xs continues the tradition, thanks to the SuperSensing Quad Camera system created in collaboration with Leica.
The photographic system is positioned on the sidebar and consists of a 40MP main camera (wide-angle, f/1.8), an ultra-wide-angle 16MP camera (f/2.2), an 8MP telephoto lens (f/2, 4, OIS) and 3D Depth Sensing Camera.
The combination of OIS and Image Stabilization with AI promises stable shots and hybrid zoom up to 30X. The system supports up to ISO 20,4800 for capturing photos, even in poorly lit environments. All this also has an advantage in the field of selfies with the possibility of using this photographic sector to take selfies using the dual display.
Huawei Mate Xs: usability at the highest levels
Having a folding display capable of being small from 6.6 inches when closed with a second 6.38-inch panel and capable of expanding to an open 8 inch makes everything more useful and exclusive in daily use.
Just press a simple button to open the panel and natively use a multi-Window to view and interact with two apps side by side. Text, images, and documents can be transferred as easily as dragging content from one application to another.
There is also a dock located at the bottom of the screen capable of offering users a space for quick connection to applications. When two apps are open simultaneously, users can launch a third one using the Floating Window function. This feature is very convenient for dealing with small tasks such as replying to text messages without abandoning other apps in use.
Huawei Mate Xs works with EMUI10.0.1, an operating system based on Android Open Source. There are no Google Play Stores and services, but Huawei launches its Mate Xs with AppGallery in a completely renewed version and capable of enclosing all the official Huawei applications.
