Today Sony has presented much interesting news from α3000 (Alpha 3000). This is the first mirrorless brand with attack and is not part to the NEX Series, approaching more closely the structure of a traditional SLR. The sensor is an Exmor APS-C 20.1 MP ISO sensitivity from 100 to 16000.
It would seem a small Sony A57, and indeed very similar, although it is slightly more compact and simple. The controls are inherited from the NEX, with one rear wheel of the parameters, but that of shot modes, so the menu structure will be the same as the NEX-6 without the inconvenience of the app because there is no Wi-Fi access.
The Sony α3000 back is a little subdued with a 3″ display fixed, which is limited to 230,400 points and an electronic viewfinder Tru Finder, who will ensure a clear view but relatively small (only 0.7 x magnification). Ergonomics looks really well studied in spite of a body so small, and it is for this that can represent either a first body that a second for existing holders of NEX.
AF occurs by contrast, of 25 areas, and there is also the stabilization on the sensor that will be automatically disabled by mounting OSS objectives. Besides the panorama mode and focus peaking, we report the ability recording video up to FullHD AVCHD and MP4 50i. Basically, Sony has included in α3000 some advantages of its SLT and NEX others of creating a new type of interchangeable lens system camera (ILC).
Viewfinder screen and simple controls are the flaws of this camera but must be balanced with its list price.
With about $399 (Price as on Sep 2, 2013) at the time of launch, the Sony α3000 arises in the entry-level market and for this reason, we could expect great things in the technical profile. For the moment, it looks like a feeble attempt to test the waters, just offering a wider body for those wishing to sample the world of mirrorless Sony home.
It may not have great success, even though the price is attractive, but it is easy to imagine the next step with a more complex model and better construction, maybe a replacement for the Sony A58 but with E-mount-mount.
