Microsoft Surface Book 3: Intel Core CPU and dedicated Nvidia graphics
The new Surface Book 3 available in 13.5″ and 15″ versions, the new laptop is based on 10-nanometer Intel Core CPU and also offers dedicated Nvidia graphics.
Microsoft has announced the new Surface Book 3, two and a half years after the debut of the Surface Book 2. The Surface Book 3, in the 13.5″ and 15″ version.
Surface Book 3 is the most powerful laptop in the Surface family, thanks to the 10th nanometer ” Ice Lake ” Intel Core platform, dedicated Nvidia graphics, and a maximum of 32 GB of LPDDR4x memory at 3733 MHz.
The Surface Book 3 13.5″ has a PixelSense screen with a resolution of 3,000 x 2,000 pixels (267 PPI) with a 3:2 aspect ratio, 1600:1 contrast ratio, and 10-point touch sensitivity. Microsoft will market a version with Intel quad-core CPU Core i5-1035G7 and one with Core i7-1065G7; the latter will also be accompanied by an Nvidia GTX 1650 Max-Q GPU with 4GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory.
As mentioned, you can opt for 8, 16, or 32 GB of RAM, while as regards storage, Microsoft speaks of 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB PCIe SSD. The battery with a keyboard connected to the base guarantees up to 15.5 hours of autonomy with typical use. As for connectivity, here is Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.
On the front of the ports, the Surface Book 3 offers two USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A, a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type C, a 3.5 mm jack and an SDXC card reader. The picture is completed by Full HD webcams (5 MP front and 8 MP rear with autofocus), speakers with Dolby Atmos, and two wide-field microphones.
The 15″ model has a screen with a resolution of 3,240 x 2,160 pixels (267 PPI) and will be available only with Intel Core i7-1065G7 CPU, which will be possible to decide to support a GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q GPU with 6 GB of dedicated GDDR6 memory or a Quadro RTX 3000 Max-Q, also with the same amount of VRAM. The choice will depend very much on the use that will be made of the Surface Book 3, whether for normal productivity or more professional tasks.
For this version, Microsoft offers the possibility to choose between 16 or 32 GB of RAM, while with the PCIe SSD, you can go up to 1 TB (there is the 2 TB option, but only in the United States). Microsoft says that the autonomy of the 15″ model can reach 17.5 hours.
As regards thickness and weight, both versions reach a maximum thickness of 23 mm, while the total weight (tablet plus keyboard) is 1, About 6 kg for the 13.5″ and 1.9 kg for the 15″. The tablet alone weighs 720 grams in the 13.5″ variant and 820 grams in the larger one.
