Apple announces release dates of Yosemite OS X and iOS 8.1 are available

During the event, the presentation of two new iPad, Apple has given special importance to the two proprietary operating platforms for desktop and mobile, giving them more than half an hour to recall the most significant of recent updates. During the event, were also unveiled the release dates of the next updates: Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite is available starting today, October 16 as a free update for users who have OS X 10.8 Lion Mountain and 10.9 Mavericks. We must instead wait a few days for iOS 8.1.

Apple has reminded some of the most interesting features of OS X 10.10 Yosemite, such as the Notification Center with new widgets, and Handoff Continuity, useful for example, when we want to continue with what we started with iMac iPhone, or answer incoming calls on a quest ‘last with an iPad, a MacBook or an iMac. With Yosemite entirely change the appearance of Mac OS X, as well as that of native applications, is enhanced Spotlight and email attachments can reach 5GB thanks to Mail Drop.

As for iOS 8.1, the news is not many,  and the update is mainly focused on activation of Apple Pay, the payment system that will be launched initially only in the United States. Apple has listened to the negative feedback received about the new Photos app, which will be renamed in the Camera Roll, as it was with iOS 7.

The update will also give life to iCloud Photo Library, in public beta, which allows you to store your photos and videos to the cloud. The first 5GB are free, while 20GB will be offered at $ 0.99 per month, which become $3.99 per month for 200GB. They will be available of course also other cuts.

iOS 8.1 will be publicly released next Monday, October 20th, the same date that will be available to the American public even Apple Pay.
