Acer announces the new Chromebook 714 and 715
Introduced two new Acer Chromebook models, designed for cloud and mobile work. The aluminum chassis is certified to withstand drops up to 122cm, and there is a fingerprint reader.
On the occasion of the annual Acer Global Conference in New York, the Taiwanese company presented Acer Chromebook 715 and Acer Chromebook 714, addressed to users who use Chrome Enterprise and designed for Cloud work, with more security features and efficiency.
Both new Acer Chromebooks are built using an aluminum chassis that complies with the military standard MIL-STD 810G2, are equipped with an integrated fingerprint reader and carry the Citrix-Ready certification that ensures compatibility with Citrix solutions for corporate mobility, the networking and cloud platforms.
Both models are equipped with Full HD displays and Intel Core processors up to the eighth generation, and provide up to 12 hours of autonomy. The chassis of the new Acer Chromebook 715 and Acer Chromebook 714 guarantees resistance in case of falls from a maximum height of 122cm (well beyond the normal desks) and supports loads weighing up to 60kg, as well as providing resistance to accidental impacts and to bending.
Anodized aluminum also masks dents and scratches due to daily wear. Present then a touchpad with Gorilla Glass for resistance to scratches and humidity. Acer Chromebook 715 is also the first Chromebook on the market with a dedicated numeric keypad and is also equipped with a backlit fingerboard.
Both models have an IPS panel with FullHD resolution: 15 inches in the case of the Acer Chromebook 715, 14 inches in the case of the Chromebook 714. For both models you can choose between versions with and without touchscreen.
On the connectivity front we find, for both, a USB 3.1 Type-C port on each side, a USB 3.0 port and a MicroSD memory card reader. Network connectivity is managed by a Dual Band Wireless-AC 802.11ac /a/b/g/n 2×2 module. Finally present Bluetooth 4.2 for the connection of peripherals of various nature.
On the software side, we find Google’s Chrome Enterprise solution, ideal for those corporate environments where employees share devices and work on the move. Chrome Enterprise helps create a safe and productive environment for cloud operations. The management of large fleets is also simplified, thanks to an easy system for checking updates, for app configuration and for general maintenance.
Acer Chromebook 715 and Acer Chromebook 714 will both be available starting in June. The configurations include 8 or 16 GB of DDR4 SDRAM and 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB of eMMC storage space.
