Acer presents the new Spin 5 and Spin 3, aluminum and 360 degree hinges
There are many innovations from Acer to CES 2020, including the two new Spin 5 and Spin 3 models, made of aluminum and with hinges to rotate the display 360 degrees, all to the advantage of usability in different configurations.
Acer, at the CES 2020 in Las Vegas, presented the new Spin 5 and Spin 3 convertible laptops, updated models of the popular PC line already in the catalog. Thinner, the new Acer Spin models both have a fast-charging Acer Active Stylus based on Wacom AES technology, reliable and fast Wi-Fi 6, and a full range of ports, including USB Type C with support for Thunderbolt 3.
In notebook mode, the zipper allows you to lift the top of the keyboard for a comfortable typing experience. Aluminum construction and backlit keyboard are a welcome plus, as well as Intel® Wi-Fi 6 and the declared autonomy that reaches 14 hours and the compatibility with fast charging (4 hours of use with a charging time of 30 minutes ).
With a thickness of only 14.9 mm, the Spin 5 (SP513-54N) adopts a 13.5-inch 2K touch display, surrounded by frames with a thickness of only 7.78 mm, to offer a screen-to-ratio body of 80%. The 3: 2 aspect ratio of the display adds 18% vertical space compared to a 16: 9 display of the same size.
Furthermore, the aluminum and magnesium chassis and palm rest of the Spin 5 make it resistant and, at the same time, light with a weight of only 1.2 kg. The Spin 5 also features an integrated fingerprint reader for faster and more secure access via Windows Hello.
With a large 14-inch Full HD display, the new Spin 3 (SP314-54N) has an aspect ratio of 16: 9 and thin 7.82mm bezels, which allow for a 78% screen-to-body ratio. It weighs 1.5 kg, boasts a thickness of 16.9 mm, and has a more affordable purchase price between the two.
Equipped with Intel® Core i7 processors up to the tenth generation, Acer Spin 5 and Spin 3 rely on integrated Intel Iris Plus graphics and support up to 16GB of RAM. Spin 5 offers up to 1TB of SSD storage space, while Spin 3 offers an option for double SSD for maximum storage capacity.
Spin 5 offers two USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 support and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 port (one with charging function with PC off), HDMI, and a reader for MicroSD cards. Spin 3 integrates a USB Type C port with Thunderbolt 3 support, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 port (one with charging function when the PC is off), HDMI, and a MicroSD card reader.
