The Taiwanese manufacturer has announced, shortly before Computex 2019, the arrival of new versions for the Acer Swift 3 and Nitro 5 notebooks that will now also be able to use the second generation AMD Ryzen Mobile CPU.
Computex 2019 in Taipei is fast approaching (it will start at the end of the month), and the first announcements are coming from the producers. One of these concerns the Acer Swift 3 and Nitro 5 notebooks that will be able to use the new AMD Ryzen CPU for the mobile sector.
In particular, the Taiwanese producer stated that Acer Swift 3 and Acer Nitro 5 could be configured with second generation AMD Ryzen Mobile processors, and that they would integrate the Radeon Vega GPUs. Here are some details.
The new Acer Swift 3, the ultra-thin notebook can use AMD Ryzen 7 3700U CPU that integrate the Radeon Vega GPU. This allows for an interesting price / performance ratio for those who do not necessarily want an Intel platform.
Among the configuration options, users will find the Radeon 540X GPU which should allow good performance when it comes to be not too heavy games or video editing. Acer Swift 3 has a 14″ display with FHD resolution based on an IPS panel while to contain the weight, the chassis is made of aluminum with a lid that can be opened up to 180°.
As per the ” Swift ” philosophy, the Acer Swift 3 is relatively light touching 1.45 kg while the thickness is 17.95 mm. The new model will have a starting price of $659 and will arrive on the market by mid-August 2019.
The second model affected by the new features is the Acer Nitro 5, which instead has the second-generation AMD Ryzen 7 3750H processor and Radeon RX 560X GPU. In this case, it is aimed more at consumer users looking for a ” everything to do ” notebook, also thanks to the 15.6 ” IPS FHD LCD display also optionally available in the 144 Hz variant.
The Acer Nitro 5 also has Gigabit Wi-Fi connectivity with 2×2 MU-MIMO technology with support for Acer Network Optimizer technology to improve network management (even during the game) and is easier to use thanks to the revised interface. They are also present on the chassis HDMI 2.0 ports, USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 1 (up to 5 Gbps) to ensure good connectivity.
For cooling, Acer Nitro 5 uses Acer CoolBoost technology with two fans with automatic adjustment and dual ventilation grids (designed for a high workload, such as during gaming).
