The company will launch a new monitor FreeSync market: Acer XR341CK will have an aspect-ratio of 21:9, a diagonal of 34 inches and will support a range of refresh rates from 30 to 75Hz.
Acer announced a new monitor with a number of very interesting features. Acer XR341CK is based on a curved LCD panel IPS 34″ with a panoramic aspect-ratio of 21:9. The maximum resolution supported is 3,440 x 1,440 pixels and, in the specific model is expected to support the technology AMD FreeSync. The analog version with G-Sync technology NVIDIA was announced last April.
The two competing technologies can be enclosed in the category ” Adaptive-Sync ” and allow, with different methodologies, to achieve the same goal: to eliminate the reproduction of tearing or stuttering when the frame rate of the GPU is not synchronized with the refresh rate of the monitor. Video cards reproduce the scenes of a game with a variable frequency, and technologies A-Sync allow you to overcome all the limitations of the Vertical Sync.
By setting a limit of 60 Hz for playback of scenes, the V-Sync eliminates tearing it creates input lag and stuttering when the scene is offered at a lower frame rate to 60 fps. For this reason, the hardcore gamer usually prefer not to activate the V-Sync, not worrying too much about the tearing that invariably appears on the display. At least until the launch of the first monitor refresh rate adaptive.
Despite the announcement after a few months, the variant FreeSync monitor 21:9 curved, Acer will come sooner than with G-Sync. The first we will see on the shelves next month, while the version with NVIDIA is expected to debut for the month of September.
Another difference is price: $ 1,099 for the version AMD, 200 less than the monitor supports the G-Sync. The reason for such a discrepancy in prices is simple to explain, and is different in the implementation of technology.
Where G-Sync needs to rely on proprietary hardware, FreeSync adopts the Adaptive-Sync already integrated DisplayPort 1.2a. But back to the monitor: Acer XR341CK has viewing angles of 178 and 172°, respectively, vertically and horizontally, and accuracy in color reproduction of 100% over standard sRGB. The monitor also has a matte finish, which should reduce to a minimum any reflections of the surrounding environment.
The peculiar characteristic of the panel of Acer is given by the range of refresh rates supported, which varies from 30 to 75Hz. The maximum value is very high if one considers the type of panel (IPS) and the high video resolution supported, probably currently the highest on the market.
The feature could make happy for many players, even if the response time of 4ms. According to the specifications issued by Acer, the monitor is able to reach a luminance of 300 nit.
The frames will also find a stereo speaker system 7 W with support technologies DTS Sound, an HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort interface, a Mini DisplayPort and DisplayPort output, in addition to a USB 3.0 hub.
