Acronis SDI Appliance, the Plug and Play solution for corporate data security
Acronis is partnering with RNT RAUSCH GmbH and introduces its pre-configured server to simplify the deployment and management of its Acronis Backup and Backup Cloud solutions.
Acronis SDI Appliance, the Plug And Play solution for corporate data security
Acronis Software-Defined Infrastructure (SDI) is a scalable and easy-to-use software architecture for storing, sharing and securing data. It is a solution that works on standard hardware, which can easily scale to fit different contexts.
To further simplify the adoption of the SDI platform Acronis has partnered with RNT RAUSCH GmbH to produce a preconfigured server that integrates the functions of Acronis Backup, CloudRAID and Acronis Notary (which relies on the blockchain to ensure the authenticity of the data).
The result is SDI Appliance. For the installation, just connect the server to the network and follow a wizard, just as you would for a more common NAS, although if the hardware on which the SDI Appliance is based is much better performing.
Inside a 3U format chassis, there is a cluster of 5 nodes, each of which has 16 cores, 32 GB RAM, 2 SSD (one for the operating system and the other for the cache) and 3 hard disks. Being a system dedicated to data centers cannot miss a network card with two 10 GB ports, available both on RJ45 connector and SFP.
The available space depends on the version and goes from 60 TB (of which 31 can be used) of the SDI-5060 to the 180 TB of the SDI-5180, of which 93 are actually available for archiving.
The keyword is redundancy, so much so that each node includes a second power supply that goes into action in case the main one fails. The presence of five nodes ensures continuity of service even during system hardware or software updates and, above all, data retention even in the unlikely event of the collapse of two nodes simultaneously.
The fact that the hardware is also suitable for mission-critical tasks shows the fact that among the customers of the SDI Appliance there is the car manufacturer Racing Point Formula 1, the former Force India.
According to Phil Goodwin, Director of Research at IDC, ” The new Acronis SDI infrastructure is particularly robust in terms of data management and storage, plug and play hardware includes virtualization and automated management through software for private and public cloud security. we believe it is the optimal solution for users of Acronis Backup and Acronis Backup Cloud Acronis is further raising the level of its solution ecosystem, moving naturally to the next step and introducing an application specifically designed for backup solutions. ”
Both the production and the distribution of SDI Appliances are managed by RNT RAUSCH GmbH, which will manage the order and shipment of the system.
