Apple Arcade is the official, all-you-can-play formula in the Apple ecosystem
Apple Arcade intends to revolutionize the world of video games by creating a section of the App Store with a subscription in which you have the possibility to play in any title without additional expenses or surprises.
On the occasion of the Monday event, Apple announced Apple Arcade, the first subscription-based gaming service designed for mobile, desktop and even ” for the living room “. Inside we will find new and exclusive games, developed both by independent realities and by big names in the world of video games. Are the names of Hironobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy) and Will Wright (SimCity or The Sims) sufficient?
At the launch, Apple Arcade will boast over 100 new and exclusive titles, chosen on the basis of criteria of originality, quality, creativity, fun, and with the aim of responding to the needs of players belonging to all age groups.
Players will have the possibility to play for the selection of titles for free according to the ” all-you-can-play ” formula, without being bothered by advertising banners, data tracking services, or in-app purchase formulas. All, of course, with the utmost respect for privacy.
Apple Arcade will be a dedicated section of the App Store, but it will not replace the video game category. On the App Store, there are about 300,000 video games, between free and paid or with in-app purchases or advertising.
Paid games are basically those on which producers invest the most and succeed in achieving success more easily, small developers need to offer their creations for free, and competing for free is not easy. It happens, that even free high-quality games have difficulty in reaching a good slice of the public.
With the simplicity of a single subscription Apple Arcade wants to bring these games, from the proven and tested quality, to the entire public of the App Store made up of over 1 billion users. Apple promises to select the games that will be featured on Apple Arcade, and also to contribute to development costs by actively collaborating with the creators.
In the early days realities like Annapurna Interactive, Bossa Studios, Cartoon Network, Finji, Giant Squid, Klei Entertainment, Konami, LEGO, Mistwalker Corporation, SEGA, Snowman, ustwo games, and others will participate in the project.
Phil Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, commented: ” The App Store is the world’s largest video game platform and also the most successful. We are now taking the games to a new level with Apple Arcade, the first Paid video game service for mobile, desktop and living room.
We have been working with some of the most innovative game developers in the world to create over 100 new and exclusive games to play on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. Arcade will be the maximum for families; they will respect the user’s privacy and will not have banners, in addition to not requiring additional purchases “. The Apple executive then concluded by stating that ” players of all ages will love Apple Arcade “.
To underline the fact that all the games present on Apple Arcade, differently from streaming services or other paid services, will be executable even offline in the absence of an Internet connection. All games will be available within the subscription of the whole subscription, and those who play on multiple devices can start on one of these and continue the experience on another.
Apple Arcade will debut in the fall of 2019 in 150 countries around the world, and will be available in a new tab on the App Store on iOS, macOS and tvOS.
