Apple Introduces the iPhone 5S and 5C
The keynote is over, and brought what was expected. iPhone 5S and 5C. The first is probably the product that has aroused more curiosity between the two and did not betray the rumors: it is an iPhone 5 with plastic shell. A6 processor, 8 Megapixel camera, 4 ” display and LTE all remain on board, while the rear part becomes all colorful.
Green, white, blue, red and yellow: this is the lineup that distinguishes 5C. Bodies can then be matched to the new rubber cover specially created by Apple, including some rather curious. $ 29 for each cover, while the iPhone 5C subscription will cost $99 for the 16 GB version and $199 for the 32 GB.
Moving on to be new technically more substantial of the evening, there is the iPhone 5S. Design very similar to the previous one, but with many additions and a set of three colors, with gold to work alongside the existing, black and white / dark gray (indeed, Space Grey).
Inside we find the A7 SoC, with 64-bit, more than one billion transistors and performance up to 40 times higher than the direct predecessor. iOS 7 will be the first optimized version, with kernel API and all 64-bit applications, backward compatible with existing 32-bit software park. The upcoming version of XCode will develop specifically for the new A7 and at the same time allow the transition to third-party developers. Besides that, there is a secondary processor M7, all dedicated to the measurement of the movement and management of sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope and compass. Among the first app optimized for the M7 will Nike Move.
Regarding the photographic industry, there is a sensor, assuming 8 Megapixel, with an active area of over 15% compared to that present in the iPhone 5 and 5C. The 5S also includes a new 5-element optical system with aperture f2.2 and a dual LED flash, one of which is dedicated to warm colors. Among the features are available, including a slow motion mode at 120 fps at 720p resolution, a burst shooting for fast image sequence and automatic stabilization of the images.
In terms of security, Apple has been working on biometric features, here called Touch ID, and included within the home button. With it, you will be able to authenticate to the device and unlock it simply by putting your finger on the sensor preset. Touch ID will also be used to purchase iTunes content ecosystem, from music to books through the apps. Of course, it can be integrated with normal alphanumeric codes or disabled completely. Any biometric data will not load on Apple’s servers, but it will remain only on the iPhone.
