Asus announces the ROG Delta headphones

They feature ESS Saber’s ES9218 QUAD DAC digital-analogue converter for the first time and provide cross-platform connectivity for PCs, consoles and mobile gaming.

Asus describes the new headphones as ” designed for first-person shooters “. The new Asus ROG Delta equips the ES9218 digital-analogue QUAD DAC converter from ESS Saber, a leading company in the Hi-fi field and is certified by Sony Hi-Res Audio. They are equipped with USB-C connector: any compatibility problems are solved with a USB-C to USB 2.0 adapter to be exploited on a wide range of platforms (PC, consoles and mobile devices).

Let’s talk about headphones based on the classic Asus driver and equipped with ergonomic D-shape ear pads with hybrid ear pads, ROG Hybrid. But the converter is the real strength of this offering, where every DAC dedicates its processing power to a subset of the audible frequency range: low, medium, high, ultra-high.

ASUS ROG Delta USB-C Gaming HeadsetThe four signals are then combined to produce a clearer sound with a signal to noise ratio (SNR) of 127dB. As a result, players can hear game sounds and pinpoint where they come from with precision, thus having the ability to accurately judge the enemy’s distance, the direction of the footsteps and the location of the firearm shots.

Another technology present in these headphones, the Hyper-Grounding, which prevents electromagnetic interference through a multilayer PCB. It is this technology that allows the compatibility of the new-generation QUAD DAC with the roaring RGB backlight of which the headphones are equipped.

As for the drivers, they have been updated with the Audio Signal Diversion technology, which is a circular wall that helps separate the sounds at high, low and medium frequency, reducing interference between the frequency ranges. The drivers feature a wide frequency response of 20Hz-40kHz and a sealed chamber design.

In addition, according to the engineers of Asus ROG, the D-shaped pavilions adapt more to the shape of the ear than the oval pavilions, reducing the unnecessary contact area by 20%. Furthermore, within each earcup, the drivers are tilted 12 degrees to perfectly adapt to the natural angle of the ear, further improving the feeling of comfort. The inclined design also helps to improve the sound quality, allowing the audio signal to travel directly into the ear canal.

ROG Hybrid ear cushions combine synthetic leather and mesh fabric for greater thickness and better breathability. Inside the ROG Delta package, there is a second set of synthetic leather pads, which are thinner and softer, making them suitable for use on the move.

The backlighting of this headphones supports circular lighting effects along with ASUS Aura Synch technology, which allows players to synchronize the lighting effects between compatible Aura products.
