ASUS AREZ: the new ASUS brand for AMD Radeon video cards
ASUS has officially launched AREZ, its new brand exclusively dedicated to AMD Radeon GPU products. ROG then becomes the exclusive brand of NVIDIA, with the looming GPP spectrum.
ASUS has officially announced the differentiation of its video card offering in two brands: on one side Republic of Gamers (ROG), which goes from generic brand to exclusive brand for NVIDIA products, and on the other hand, ASUS AREZ, newborn umbrella under which AMD Radeon products fall.
” AREZ ” comes from Ares, the Greek god of war, and becomes the only brand under which ASUS will propose AMD Radeon graphics cards. The change of course by ASUS happens suddenly and follows similar changes that occur also in the price lists of other producers.
AREZ cards are produced with a 100% automated process, which guarantees a reliability of 30% and a lower environmental impact of production. The Super Alloy Power II components used by ASUS allow for temperatures to be 50% lower, thanks to improved efficiency and relatively low dispersion.
ASUS also employs the MaxContact cooling technology that uses a copper heat sink in direct contact with the GPU, which ensures a flatter surface and double the contact area for better dissipation. In addition to this, the slat area is over 40%, and the Wing-Blade fans offer a static pressure greater than 105% compared to traditional fans.
This is only a change of name, since there are currently no substantial differences compared to the models already on the market. ASUS makes this change just when the controversy rages on the GPP program (GeForce Partner Program) of NVIDIA, which would require the allocation exclusively to NVIDIA products of the leading brands of manufacturers. There are not – of course – confirmation in this sense either by ASUS or by NVIDIA.
The information in this regard is still incomplete and there are no official positions, but it seems legitimate to make some suspicions in the light of the information that emerged on the GPP. It remains to be seen how these changes will go to or against AMD and its products.
