It’s the first Asus NVIDIA partner company to submit a video card GeForce GTX 950 which does not require the use of additional power connectors to function properly.
The video cards present on the market require different types of power connectors, depending on the type of GPUs that use, and then the power requirements. The only PCI Express slot is used to provide a maximum of 75 watts to the card according to the default specification, since it proves to be sufficient only for video cards contained by the power of processing.
The most high-end video cards will serve one or two additional connectors, which can be 6 or 8 pin. The first provide an additional 75 watts of power which each maximum, while the second double up to 150 Watt this data. From this the use of power supplies that are provided with connectors in the appropriate number and type, capable of ensuring the correct functioning of the video card when pushed to full charge.
Asus has announced a video card based on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950, characterized by the absence of additional power connectors. For this reason, the card has a maximum energy consumption of 75 watts that are provided by the PCI Express connector with which it is connected to the motherboard.
The technical specifications have 2 Gbytes of GDDR5 memory paired with 128bit bus and clock frequency of 6 GHz effective, with GPU with 768 CUDA cores operating at 1,026 MHz and 1,190 MHz default which boost clock frequency. The card sees the use of a bulky cooling system with a double fan, more than capable of adequately manage the reduced heat generated by the card during operation.
This card is the first GPU-based GeForce GTX 950 does not require a power connector. For now are the only GeForce GTX 750Ti cards not to request, in the range of NVIDIA proposals, an additional power connector in order to operate properly.
