Asus ROG GX700 combines laptop and liquid cooling
A particular choice to Asus, which with the ROG GX700 model provides a solution for the most demanding gamer but open space, thanks to liquid cooling, even overclocking.
Asus ROG GX700 is a laptop designed for gamers, belonging to the family Republic of Gamers, which we had to occasion to speak in previous news, but at CES 2016 in Las Vegas have seen live. This solution differs from that proposed by other companies in the industry because it can be combined with a system of external cooling paste on their desk, designated by the name of Hydro Overclocking System, which integrates a liquid circuit that operates by improving the efficiency of one inserted into the laptop.
The kit of additional cooling is very voluminous, integrating an internal radiator, fan and circulation pump of the liquid along with the inevitable collecting tray. The connection with the laptop includes a series of mechanical couplings, which ensure the correct alignment between the two components, with two ends, which are inserted inside suitable predispositions present in the back of the laptop so as to allow the liquid of the cooling system of enter the laptop and, once warmed up by the heat generated by the GPU and CPU, return to the external cooling system so as to be cooled.
The system has been developed taking into utmost attention possible problems of leakage. That is of accidental leakage of the coolant from the circuit. From what we could see in person the fastening system appears to be very solid and durable, requiring some force to secure the two components with each other and lock the circuit with the rear-mounted lever so that the liquid can enter the laptop.
Asus has chosen to accompany this laptop to one of Intel Core processors for mobile systems with architecture Skylake belonging to the series K, so as to allow to intervene in overclocking using the additional cooling system. The video industry sees the presence of an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980, which is combined with a 17-inch display with 4K resolution and compatibility with NVIDIA G-Sync: benefits in turn in net additional heat provided by the cooling system Liquid outside.
A very niche product, which does not yet know the possible commercialization in the market and the expected price. It will be interesting, if it is imported into Italy, what margins of the increase in clock frequencies of CPU and GPU that a proposal of this kind offers.
