ASUS has just announced the new Zenfone 6 at a press event held in Valencia. The Taiwanese company missed the appointment with the Mobile World Congress making its presence felt through the advance announcement even in the brochures of the Barcelona fair. Since then there have been countless rumors on the top of the range, and many of these have been confirmed.
ASUS Zenfone 6
ASUS Zenfone 6 is a smartphone that is renewed a lot compared to its predecessor (Zenfone 5z) which, with surprise, was configured as one of the most interesting devices of the last generation. For the new model, the Taiwanese choose a larger display, a 5,000 mAh battery and an innovative and highly intelligent card system for rear and front cameras.
In reality, the camera is only one and thanks to a sort of rotating insert in which it is installed. It can be used both as a main camera and for selfies and video calls.
The insert uses a hinge with a diameter of only 2 mm, with the entire mechanism that can rely on 13 gears to produce the least possible friction and guarantee extraction on lightning paper. The insert can also lock at a 90° position, which allows you to take pictures with different ” perspectives ” than the usual two (front and rear) typically available on smartphones.
We have two modules: the main one is 48 MP, while the MP secondary module offers 13 and adopts an ultra-wide-angle lens. There is also a mode called ” Super night mode ” capable of gathering lighter than normal. And all modes can be used, of course, also for ” selfies “.
ASUS thus finds a solution to the problem of the notch (present for example: on the iPhone XS) or of the hole (Honor View 20 or Galaxy S10), in a way that we find quite elegant and convenient. In addition, you can take advantage of the highest quality of the main camera even for video calls and selfies, which is not little. Everything is enclosed in a casing that improves year by year with regard to the build quality and that perceived by the user. The size of the terminal also increases considerably.
The new Zenfone 6 has an IPS NanoEdge display with a full 6.4-inch Full HD resolution (2,340×1,080 pixels), with an aspect ratio of 19.5: 9 and a pi
xel density of 390 ppi. Under the body, we find a significant improvement compared to its predecessor: the CPU is obviously the new Snapdragon 855 octa-core (with a 2.84 GHz Kryo 485 core, three 2.41 GHz Kryo 485 and a 1.78 GHz Kryo 485), combined with different variants that differ in memory cutting. It starts with a 6 GB version of RAM and 64 GB of storage, 6 GB of RAM with 128 GB of storage, and finally with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
All versions offer expandability via microSD, Dual SIM support, dual-band Wi-Fi ac compatibility, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB TypeC connector, rear fingerprint sensor and a 5,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 charging support (18W) and wireless charging.
According to the company the Zenfone 6 battery should guarantee up to 21 hours of continuous web browsing. The weight is not too heavy, especially considering the battery specifications, the size of the display and the presence of a mechanism for the camera: 190 grams, with dimensions of 159.1 x 75.4 x 9.2 mm.
The smartphone also uses a new version of ZenUI (6) optimized to perform daily tasks more quickly than before, with a guaranteed update for the next Android Q and also for the next release (R).
