AWS AppFlow makes it easier to process SaaS app data
AWS has announced AppFlow, a new service that allows you to easily move data to and from SaaS applications, making it easier and safer to process.
Among the advantages of using applications delivered in software as a service (SaaS) mode is the fact that data is managed by the service provider. But what happens when you want to access this data and take it elsewhere, for example, to process it and get new data?
This process often requires manual intervention, with the consequent risk of human errors occurring, or the construction of specific software that does the transfer, with a long and expensive process. AWS has announced AppFlow as an answer to this need: the new service automates the transfer of data from some SaaS applications to Amazon’s cloud services to have a ready and secure procedure.
Moving SaaS app data is easier with AWS AppFlow
To meet the needs of companies, AWS presented AppFlow: the new service allows you to move data between the Amazon cloud and SaaS services in a bidirectional way.
In this way, the movement is made automatic, and there is no need to create special software that can stop working with the changes that are introduced over time. The data are encrypted both when they are moved and when they are stored (encryption in motion and at rest) to ensure maximum security.
At the moment, 13 SaaS applications (including Salesforce, Zendesk, Google Analytics, and Slack) are supported as data sources and S3, Amazon Redshift, Salesforce, and Snowflake as destinations.
Some of the applications also offer integration with AWS PrivateLink: the data is not passed through the normal Internet network but remains inside the AWS network to avoid any possible attack from the outside.
AWS AppFlow allows you to schedule transfers, to make them happen in response to specific events or on-demand. The maximum amount of data that can be transferred in one go is 100 GB.
The service is available in the following regions: US East (Northern Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Northern California), US West (Oregon), Canada (Central), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Toyko), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Europe (Paris), Europe (Ireland), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (London) and South America (São Paulo). Availability is expected to expand to other regions in the future.
Further information is available in the official announcement.
