Buffalo adds Snapshot support to the new TeraStation 6000 NAS series
Buffalo introduced the TeraStation 6000 NAS, dedicated to SME. They are available with capacities ranging from 4 to 32 TB, both in destkop and rack-mountable versions, and support Snapshot and iSCSI backup capabilities from NAS to NAS.
The new NAS of the TeraStation 6000 range from Buffalo are not models capable of pushing multimedia. Their ideal working environment is within small and medium-sized companies that need to simplify backup and file sharing and storage procedures.
The 6000 series models are based on Intel Atom processors, the C3338 at 1.5 GHz for two-bay versions and the C3538 at 2.1 GHz for those that support four disks, accompanied by 8 GB of ECC RAM. Everyone can boast a 10 GbE interface, which can make the difference when moving large amounts of data.
Snapshots and backups: The strengths of the TeraStation 6000 NAS
The main functionality of the TeraStation 6000 NAS is Snapshot, which creates incremental system images at predefined intervals, automating backup operations of networked PC. In the event of a disaster, such as breaking a PC disk or worse, a ransomware, just a few steps will be needed to restore individual files or entire systems. The Buffalo solution integrates particularly well with Windows-based clients, which can restore backups directly from the Folder Properties window.
From the point of view of backup of iSCSI volumes, Buffalo has instead introduced the possibility of making a direct copy from one NAS to another in the series, so as to be able to backup its contents without overloading the NAS and allowing users to continue accessing it and work normally.
All models of the TeraStation 6000 series
The new range of Buffalo NAS consists of 7 NAS, two of which are inside a rack-mountable case, while the rest are desk-mounted. All versions are supplied with hard disk drives already installed and all share the same hardware, with the sole difference of the CPU, slightly less powerful (1.5 GHz against 2.1 GHz) for models with two bays.
