Casio Action Camera inspired by its G-Shock watches: Ready for the most extreme conditions
Casio has decided to take design and various technical devices from its well-known and successful series of G-Shock watches which, for several years, have made resistance and durability the main cornerstones of their success.
Casio launches on the market of the action cams designed to be used, but above all to resist, to the most extreme conditions: precisely presents the GZE-1 model of the G’z EYE family studied in shapes and materials to withstand shocks, vibrations, unusual temperatures and in general, shooting conditions far from the appropriate ones.
In support of these characteristics, Casio has decided to take design and various technical devices from its well-known and successful series of G-Shock watches which, for several years, have made resistance and durability the main cornerstones of their success.
The Casio GZE-1 cam certainly does not astonish for technical data of the video industry: the back-illuminated CMOS sensor is able to offer 6.9 mega pixels of effective resolution and shooting mainly at 1080p at 30fps or 480p at 120fps, values far from those of the current top of the range products.
Having said that as regards construction features and technical measures, the Casio GZE-1 has several points in its favor, precisely can operate up to 50 meters underwater and easily withstand falls up to 4 m in height, characteristics that in certain situations can represent real added value.
Another detail to appreciate is the wide angle of view, up to 190.8 degrees and focal aperture of f/2.8, very respectable data considering also that the same construction standards above are valid, of course also for the wide lens essential for obtaining this type of image acquisition.
Original in shape and design, the dimensions are 74x75x46 mm for 172 g of weight, including battery and microSD memory; very resistant, good technical data, the last point that can move the needle of the balance in its making concerns the connectivity compartment, as this cam is equipped with both a Bluetooth 2.1 and wireless interface to be able to dialogue for example with the last watch Pro Wear by Casio, or with the G’z Eye app.
Casio has already presented both the GZE-1 and some accessories dedicated to her, but has not yet announced a release date or a global price, in Japan, we are talking about a cost of 46,000 yen, so, all in all, we can hypothesize a price for the remaining markets that should be around $460; For more information and images, please visit the page dedicated to this product.
