Chrome on Android now chooses and downloads web pages for offline viewing
The novelty is currently foreseen only for emerging markets where slow Internet connections or unsatisfactory coverage are available. It allows you to download web pages that are considered important for the user.
For users in emerging countries, it is very important to have the possibility to view an offline content, as the connections are often limited in terms of the data bundle or download speed.
Browsing online through different information sites can be a slow and full process of interruptions, and just to avoid this kind of frustration Google is introducing a new feature on Chrome for Android, which allows you to automatically download web pages deemed relevant when you are connected in Wi-Fi.
The articles are saved locally and made available even without an internet connection. Nowadays, it is possible to download articles through third-party apps, or by saving the page offline, but these methods require in the vast majority of cases, the interaction and the choice of the pages by the user.
With the new Chrome update will automatically save the items recommended for the user, based on his interests and geolocation of the terminal. There are obviously no weaknesses in this approach.
If on the one hand, the user will find himself with the articles ready for online viewing without moving a finger, on the other hand, the choice of Google may not fit with what the user would have done. It can still be useful for those who want to learn about the hot news of the day when they do not have access to the Internet, during a transfer on transport or waiting in an area where there is little mobile connectivity. The feature could be useful even in the most industrialized countries, but at the moment it is designed only for some emerging markets.
Google has announced the arrival of news in India, Nigeria, Indonesia and Brazil, as well as in other 100 countries with limited access to data, without mentioning them one by one.
