In the name of Project Sputnik Barton George announced the global launch of the Precision family with Ubuntu and the Developer Edition of the model XPS 13 with InfinityEdge display.
Dell XPS 13 is one of the most interesting portable computers in the market. It is traditionally sold with Windows operating system, and has become famous right away for the combination of the Infinity display with very small frames at top-level hardware. It is offered in a market segment in which collides with Surface Book and MacBook Pro, and is, from today, the basis of a new family of products with Ubuntu pre-installed.
Barton George announced the news today in his personal blog, which launched the new Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition for the American market. Will come later also in Canada and Europe, with the line-up that consists of four different versions, plus a further variant with Full HD display that will come later. All models will have Ubuntu 4.14 LTS, Skylake Intel’s sixth-generation processors and InfinityEdge display 13-inch Quad HD+T.
The following specifications of the various models of Dell XPS 13 fifth generation:
- i7 / 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Display QHD+T (3,200×1,800)

The version with the cheaper Core i7 currently costs $1,550, and does not allow you to save big money.
