Google continues to increase its presence across browsers, including Internet Explorer approaching desktop solutions; for mobile devices is its first position, outpacing Apple’s Safari.
Continued growth of the Google Chrome browser, with a market share for desktop systems during the month of March reached 39.09% compared to 36.56% held in the previous month. These data, drawn from NetMarketShare, surged as the war in the desktop browser is a battle between the two: on the one hand, Chrome, Internet Explorer, on the other.
This browser, the default solution in Microsoft operating systems prior to Windows 10, maintains an overall share of 43.4%, but this figure is down from 44.79% the previous month. Edge to the market share was 4.3% during the month of March, representing an increase compared to 3.93% the previous month.
Rounding out the rankings all other browsers, slightly down to compensate for the growth of Chrome: Firefox, specifically, it went from a market share of 11.68% in February to that of 10.54% in March. Safari remains constant with a 4.87% share, while Opera closes with 1.66%, which represents a marginal downward revision compared to February.
The trend with regard to the mobile browser sees Chrome firmly in the lead with 45.57% of the total, followed by Safari with 32.7%. Following other browsers for OS Android with about 10%, Opera Mini with 6.57% down compared to the previous two months and 2.48% for Internet Explorer to confirm the small market share held by Microsoft in the mobile systems.
Microsoft, in short, continues to hold a majority stake in the desktop browser, but Google Chrome growth is very obvious; the latter continues to maintain a majority stake in the mobile device industry, thanks to the spread of smartphones and tablets based on Android OS.
