Fujifilm X-T3: 30fps bursts, 4K / 60p video, new sensor and much more
Great news for the new mirrorless premium Fujifilm X-T3, a whole new camera that gives a nod to the videomakers, much more than in the past. Here is the list of features for what is proposed as one of the most desirable APS-C mirrorless.
Fujifilm, more than putting his hand to the X mirrorless series, looks for a real turning point giving it the name of X-T3. The already excellent and appreciated mirrorless of the brand are enriched with a product that brings many new features starting from the sensor, which is now a back-lit APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 with 26.1 Mpixel without a low-pass filter, with electronic management entrusted to the powerful X-Processor 4, three times more powerful than those adopted until now. The ISO sensitivity is now 160-12,800, extendable to 80-51,200.
So let’s start immediately with some of the loads that this combined processor-sensor promise starting from the burst of well 30fps (crop mode 1.25x, then not too sacrificed), which fall down to say 20fps and 11fps respectively with electronic shutter and mechanical.
Remarkable also the possibility of filming in 4K/60p with color sampling 4.2.0 10 bit (internal) or 4.2.2 10 bit (via direct HDMI). Fujifilm X-T3 supports the Log format (it calls it F-Log), with a minimum ISO of 640, with support to HLG expected by the end of the year obviously via firmware update.
Another big news is the new electronic viewfinder 0.5 inches, 100fps and 3.69 million points (coverage 0.75X) without obscuration during the burst, while noteworthy is the new autofocus system that uses 2.1 million pixels dedicated to phase detection.
This promises sensitive increases in speed and accuracy of autofocus compared to the X-T2 model, even considering that the operation is optimal up to -3EV.
Confirmed the presence of a rear display fully adjustable and touched by 1 million pixels, as well as the ability to simulate the various types of film as typical of Fujifilm.
The stated autonomy is 390 shots, not bad for a mirrorless, while on the front connectivity, we find WI-FI, Bluetooth and USB 3.1 type C. Definitely appreciated will be the adoption of the dual SD card slot, as well as the magnesium construction (body weight only about 550 grams) and tropicalization.
Prices? There is talk of $1,499 for the body alone, rising to $1,899 in kit with XF 18-55mm.
