Google Calendar changes graphics: Here is the new user interface

After years even Google Calendar is revolutionized with a style in line with the fees imposed by the Material Design of Big G that made its first appearance on Android.

One of the most-used web-apps among those that make Google available is Google Calendar. However, precisely because of its diffusion it is not easy to revolutionize it without upsetting whoever uses it every day. The service was launched over 10 years ago, but from the beginning, the innovations introduced were only ” iterative “, without radical changes of the UI. These come now, with Google introducing the principles of Material Design also on its calendar.

Among the latest innovations introduced, we mention the memos, arrived in 2015, while subsequently the objectives and smart suggestions arrived, driven by the company’s artificial intelligence algorithms. Over the years, design has remained largely unchanged for the vast majority of items. The recent update introduces not only new, more modern graphics on the web, but also features that make the app more versatile.

Among these, the most interesting is the possibility of activating a double-screen view in which to see two separate calendars in different columns. You can also view and restore deleted items, view contact information for participants in different appointments by holding the mouse cursor over the name, and new formatting options for invitations are also available, in which links can also be added.

The update of the Google Calendar UI is in roll-out since October 17, with the admin G Suite that can activate it on all users even manually. Those who use the service for personal use can activate the graphic interacting with the ” Use new calendar ” button at the top right. The function is not currently available to all users: those who do not display the button must wait for server-side activation by the company even on their account.
