Important for the fact that it goes to solve an important security hole for all operating systems by bypassing the ” zero-day ” type bug capable of being exploited by attackers to perform some attacks. The new updated version of Chrome is version 80.0.3987.122 of the browser app for the Windows, Mac, and Linux, Chrome OS, iOS, and Android operating systems.

The vulnerability found by Google engineers and not only would have been classified as CVE-2020-6418 and would affect Chrome’s JavaScript search engine in its component called V8. In this case, the security flaw that was discovered would create a ” type confusion ” error, that is a real code bug capable of going to initialize data execution operations through an app using inputs of a specific ” type ” but induced to the input treatment as a different ” type. ”
In a nutshell, what does it mean? It means that the error does nothing but cause different management of Chrome’s memory leading to situations of ” holes ” in which an expert hacker could exploit them to execute dangerous code within the program. Moreover, the same Google has already reported some attacks underway by hackers.
The advice is to update the version of the Chrome web browser as soon as possible. The Mountain View company has already released the new version, which is 80.0.3987.122, which allows solving this important security bug by applying patches. Third only in chronological order this new bug.
On Chrome since March of last year, Google had to solve the first ” zero-day ” on the version of Chrome 72.0.3626.121 but also then in November with a second important misstep resolved with the version of Chrome 78.0.3904.8.
