Google expands Chrome OS Instant Tethering support with other Android devices
Crome OS Instant Tethering now supports other Chromebooks and other Android smartphones. Initially, Google had reserved this feature only for their devices.
Chrome OS is the system used on some laptops designed primarily for the studio, but not only. They are devices known to be light and easy to use especially the mobility. Many do not use a SIM card with the Internet on the Chromebook, but take advantage of the phone rate of their smartphone by connecting the laptop via hotspot.
Chrome OS has made this ” mating ” simple thanks to a function called instant tethering, limited only to Google smartphones and used by very few users. To use instant tethering you need to have the same Google account on both your phone and your laptop with Chrome OS, you’ll see a ” Connect ” notification when your Chromebook is not connected to the Internet. To turn off this feature just select ” Disconnect ” from the notification or the Tethering will be automatically disconnected after more than 10 minutes of inactivity.
Instant Tethering then facilitates the connection with the smartphone and consequently, Google wanted to extend compatibility with Android phones adding about 30, although it plans to increase them later.
