The new Google Pixels are finally official. Presented in an international media event and ready to be put on the market in a double version that changes according to the technical specifications.
Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL are finally reality. The Mountain View company has finally dissolved every veil on its two new latest smartphones ready to compete with the various iPhone 11 Pro but also Huawei Mate 30 Pro (if it arrives) or even Samsung Galaxy Note 10+.
On the new smartphones we had known practically everything since there had been leaked during these weeks and months rumors about news, not only by voice but also and above all visuals with videos and images of the new device of the company.
The new Google Pixels 4 and 4 XL are the ones we actually expected and especially the ones we saw. Two devices that differ in size and few other technical specifications. Smartphones that look to the future thanks to the introduction of the so-called Motion Sense capable of controlling the smartphone directly with the gesture, that is, with the hands.
A novelty for Google that at the time only LG had introduced and that with the contribution of the sophisticated algorithm of the Mountain View company could actually make the difference.
Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL
First of all, let’s start with design because it is undoubtedly one of the things that strikes a device, especially in recent years where companies try to hit users from the aesthetic rather than the technical side where everyone is more or less the same.
Google does not seem to want to move away from what is the style of the latest generation of Pixels. Some changes at frame or back cover level but actually what results from the images is actually a smartphone in line with what we have seen so far in Mountain View and which actually characterizes the character of the company.
The new Pixels 4 and 4 XL do not possess the notch that characterized, in positive or negative, the line of the last generation. The dimensionally important bezel on the Pixel 3XL will only be a memory, and the new Mountain View company smartphones see the presence of an important band at the top of the display.
This band is noticeably reduced both on the long sides of the smartphone and on the lower side. This is because in that upper range, Google decides to put an innovative system of cameras and sensors capable of making the device unlock with 3D recognition, a bit like with iPhone and its Face ID.
This new system allows you to permanently abandon the classic fingerprint sensor ensuring maximum protection even for wireless payment via Google Pay. Not only because some applications will be activated only and exclusively through facial recognition, and this is clearly studied in the maximum details precisely to guarantee the best security.

Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL: Motion Sense the real novelty
One of the main features of the new Google Pixels 4 and 4 XL, as mentioned, is the so-called Motion Sense, that is an interaction system that can be used through the gestures, and that will allow to realize different types of functionality without ever using the display.
This new technology was set up five years ago with the acquisition by Google of Project Sol, a system capable of receiving information using remote gestures. Here all this happens simply to move the hand near the sensors predisposed to the reception of the gestures.
Important to know that the algorithm will not be confused with other types of gestures that users could do such as passing the hand on the smartphone without wanting to make a gesture. Google has worked a lot in this.
Here with Motion Sense you can:
- Silence the ringtone of a call : in practice, upon receiving a call, simply move your hand on the display to make the ringtone ” harmless “.
- Mute the alarm : as with a call, even for the alarm clock, you can silence the alarm simply by using gestures. Here you will just have to pass your hand over the smartphone to stop the ringtone.
- Change music : you will no longer need to touch your smartphone to go forward or backward with the songs but just move your hand. This also seems to be possible not only on YouTube Music but also on other third-party apps like Amazon Music, Deezer, Google Play Music, iHertRadio, Pandora, Spotify, Spotify Stations and YouTube.
To all this, we will also add a new Google Assistant that the Mountain View company has decided to enrich and renew with new features and above all a new look. Yes, because the ” New Google Assistant ” now sees a renewed graphic interface that is more compact but also transparent.
It has a luminous lower bar with the 4 colors of Google, but above all, it allows continuous conversation, that is to say, the artificial intelligence of the system allows having a conversation without interruptions and above all asking the bot anything without having to say ” Ok Google “.
Very interesting are clearly the features of the cameras of the new Pixels 4 and 4 XL. In this case double sensor at the rear, a novelty for the Mountain View company that in recent generations has always tried to work hard on the algorithm rather than introducing a double chamber. Now it seems the time has come and actually having a double sensor will make the difference, always supported by the algorithm.
Here the company introduces a new version of the camera application that comes to numbering 7.0. In this case, here it becomes possible to take shots in manual mode with new controls. One of these will best manage the double exposure so as to acquire quality photos without the concern of proper lighting.
On the one hand, there will be the possibility to adjust the exposure value (with the icon in the shape of the sun) and also that of the shadows.
On a technical level, there is a Super Res hybrid zoom capable of taking shots at important distances while guaranteeing maximum definition in detail. Not only is there also a Live HDR+ function that guarantees users to immediately get the shot with color enhancement.
Do not forget also the Portrait mode which guarantees in this case shots of the highest order, especially with the possibility of achieving optimal bokeh effects. Night Sight for astronomical photos is the new feature able to guarantee sky-high shots with a definition never seen before.
