Google relaunches Android One: Economic smartphone for everyone

The company places new emphasis on its own initiative and to the provision of cheap smartphones that can be used by a large proportion of the world population.

Google is ready for phase two of its project Android One , an initiative with which wants to bring low-cost smartphones to be available in emerging markets. The initiative as a whole aims to provide connectivity tools that are accessible to the broadest possible segment of the population, to be enriched with the services provided by Google online.

Rajan Anandan, managing director of the program in India, revealed in an interview with the Financial Times as the program has centered the objectives originally set for a reduced availability of devices on the market. Even the price, up to $ 100, has partly reduced the potential sales if the transmission was expected in the developing regions.

Hence in this second phase, the initiative aims to make accessible One Android smartphones that are priced within $ 50, even if the minimum threshold of $ 30 was set as a maximum target.

The Android One devices match screen with a diagonal of 4 to 5 inch, 5 megapixel camera and a version of Android operating system recently. Google is also willing to work on the services offered to owners of Android One terminals so as to better adapt the user experience to the peculiarities of the regions in which these products will be used. Do not overlook, in this respect, even the limited connectivity available and the need to provide services that are able to operate well even in conditions of reduced bandwidth for the data traffic.
