How to Encrypt a folder
We all have some documents, photos or videos that we want to keep safe and away from prying eyes. The best thing to do is to put all these files in a folder and then encrypt it.
The ways to do this are many, today I will show you how to do it using a Windows function and with a specific program. Also I will tell you the name of some alternative programs. But now just talk and let’s see how to encrypt a folder.
Insert the files in a folder
First, we choose our most important and private files, the ones we want to hide and protect. Now we create a folder, rename it as we wish and then select the previously chosen files. Now, there is nothing left to do but move the files within our folder just create.
Encrypt the folder with Windows
Well, we press on the folder with the right button and select the item ” Properties ” from the drop-down menu that will appear on the screen. We click on the ” General ” tab and then select ” Advanced “. We check the entry ” Encrypt contents for data protection ” and then press OK twice in a row. Among the various possibilities we can choose whether to encrypt the folder, subfolders or all the files in this folder. Click on OK for the last time and you’re done.
Decrypt the folder
If for any need, we should, or we want to decrypt the folder the procedure will be very easy. We repeat all the operations listed above, except that we have to uncheck ” Encrypt contents for data protection “. Once checked, our folder will be decrypted.
Download SteadyCrypt
We go to the SteadyCrypt website. To know if our computer is 32 or 64 bit, go to ” Control Panel ” and click on ” System ” . After downloading the right file, we open and extract the contents of the archive where we believe best.
Encrypt with SteadyCrypt
We start SteadyCrypt.exe and write the password that we want to use to encrypt our folder. Then, select the folder that we want to encrypt and bring it into the main Steadycrypt window.
Now our folder will be encrypted, invisible in Windows Explorer and on the desktop. So how do we access it? Open the program again and select the folder with the right mouse button, click on ” Decrypt to original path ” and we will then access our secret files.
Encrypt with other programs
SteadyCrypt is not the only program that can encrypt files and folders. If it does not satisfy you for any reason, you can use others.
