If you have decided to install Internet Explorer on Mac, especially when working under Web design, and you need to see how a certain Internet site appears in your Microsoft browser, it may be helpful to have it click-through. Through the steps of this comprehensive guide, you will learn how to install Internet Explorer on Mac in an extremely simple way.
- It is good to know that in order to install Internet Explorer on Mac, you will have to choose a program that can emulate (even if this is not the most suitable term to use) the Windows environment, and then run the applications designed for that.
- In this case, WineBottler was advised to use it because it is free and extremely easy to use even from people who are not heavily involved in using the computer. Download WineBottler from the official site of the program and install the application on your computer by opening the .dmg file you just downloaded and bringing the Wine and WineBottler icons to the Applications of OS X folder. It takes very few seconds to do this.
- At this point, start WineBottler and wait a few seconds for the program to be recognized and start. Once the program is configured, the software’s main screen will appear immediately, and then click on the Install Predefined Prefixes item that is generally located on the left side of the window.
- To start, click on Internet Explorer 7 and then on the Install button to start Internet Explorer installation (you will need to choose the folder where the application is to be copied). You will then have to wait for WineBottler to download the IE 7 installer (in English), and then you can normally run the program as if you were in Windows. By clicking on the PC restart button at the end of the setup, the computer will not restart but only the Wine engine, quiet.
- At this point, you can start Internet Explorer on Mac as any Mac application, just by double-clicking its icon or looking for it in Spotlight. Of course, you do not need to start WineBottler before or perform strange configurations. In addition to Internet Explorer 7, there are also Internet Explorer 6 and 8 in the list of applications running with WineBottler, but unfortunately we do not recommend installing them. IE 6 is by now an obsolete product and IE 8 unfortunately does not work as it should.
