HP announces new Healthcare Edition specific devices for the hospital environment
Resistant to cleaning with very aggressive disinfectants and solutions designed for the hospital: these are the guidelines followed by HP for a new range of PCs and monitors, Healthcare Edition, intended specifically for the medical field. Here are some details.
HP will soon be launching a series of PCs and monitors for hospital staff, including the all-in-one EliteOne 800 Healthcare Edition, the 27-inch HP Healthcare Edition Clinical Review Display and the EliteBook 840 Healthcare Edition.
On the first one, one wonders what they will have different PC or monitor for the hospital compared to normal, but there are differences that can be considered significant.
In common all of them, we find the construction with special materials, which resist much better than normal ones if subjected to frequent cleaning, especially with aggressive disinfectants. The handset, moreover, plans to deactivate from the touchscreen and keyboard, so as to clean it without interacting with the machine in an accidental manner.
Unlike other devices in hospitals, the handset that usually follows the doctor or nursing staff can be a vehicle for spreading infections if not properly disinfected. It assumes a certain importance to have a product that lends itself well to thorough and very frequent cleaning.
In addition to this, the displays can also be used by wearing surgical gloves, and in the touchpad there is an RFID reader that can register the user when he approaches the badge. Also on the security front, HP has predicted a higher level than normal, because the medical records are a sensitive data to handle with care. Do not miss the fingerprint reader, as well as an encryption on the storage system.
The products will be available shortly: the handset will debut in May and the other two devices a month later. We do not know the prices, which is why we need to wait to understand how much the level of increase compared to standard solutions.
