With its latest Ultrabook for the public professionals, HP has managed to combine construction and specifications for the company to a design for elegance and quality has nothing fewer consumer products.
HP EliteBook Folio is the new Ultrabook presented by HP at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, that in spite of the highly refined design and with the classic lines of a product intended for the consumer audience is a solution designed for professional users.
Alex Cho, Vice President and General Manager, HP Commercial PCs, showed us the product focusing on some details in the construction which confirm the purpose of use. Much attention has been paid to the quality in audio playback, wanting to make sure that HP EliteBook Folio can take the place of audio conferencing systems used within companies.
This intended use arises from a practical consideration: 40% of working time spent in the company implies some form of voice communication with colleagues. A high-quality audio reproduction, especially the voice, thus allows to increase productivity.
Hence the involvement of Bang & Olufsen for the audio part, aimed specifically to optimize playback of the voice or music, with a maximum sound volume very high compared to a chassis that is remarkably compact. Similar approach was chosen for the microphone pair, mounted in the upper part of the screen and matched to a system of reduction of environmental noise so as to be able to operate optimally even in contexts characterized by strong background noise.
The design is extremely thin, with a thickness which reaches 12.4 mm, is combined with a hinge system that allows to open the display 180 degrees relative to the support surface. Very content also the weight, less than 1 kg, thanks to the aluminum body; the screen from 12.5 inches diagonally is proposed with resolution 4K but an option is available with ancillary Full HD panel so as to reduce the overall cost.
The screens are obviously touch type in both options, a feature that makes the most of the special features of the operating system Windows 10.
A laptop designed for professionals so, but that can offer construction and design expected of a product intended for the consumer audience.
All this for an official price that starts from $999 in markets, presumably for a version with a panel with full HD resolution and with a SSD of 128 GB of capacity. Marketing in volumes is expected in the month of March 2016.
