HP today announced the availability of Omen, a name that refers to an acquisition made by the old American brand eight years ago, Voodoo PC. Omen was a product category Voodoo PC Desktop brand Hewlett Packard took over in 2006. Today, after eight years, it becomes a new laptop aimed at gamers, designed in a simple and straightforward, quality materials, and a form factor decidedly thin.
There’s also, of course, a hardware component that can handle the latest games.
The HP Omen integrated display is an IPS LCD 15.6 ” Full HD resolution (1920×1080) with support for touch input. On the hardware front, we find an Intel Core i7-4710HQ, four-core Haswell 2.5 with a TDP of 47W, and a NVIDIA GTX 860M. The storage subsystem is treated by a solid-state drive, a choice of models 128, 256 or 512GB built in. The battery is 58Wh and should allow, according to the manufacturer, a range of 4.75 hours on a single charge.
In terms of features, the HP Omen 15-5010nr is opposed to solutions such as Razer Blade 14, which has a higher-resolution video, a thickness slightly lower but also a display diagonal of less extensive.
HP also offers an upgrade to a version of the GTX 860M with 4GB of RAM dedicated, even if the change would lead to the benefits of considering the computational power of GPUs. The shell is made of black anodized aluminum, with chrome hinge.
