Android is a system that by its very nature open does not pray to adapt to almost any device. Smartphones and tablets primarily, but not even a ride on laptops is disdained by the green robot. For the more daring nothing prevents groped in autonomy with the build of the Android-x86 project, which allows you to install the system on any PC with an Intel or AMD.
But there is someone who has given real commercial developments, while remaining in the field ARM: an example is the Lenovo A10, multitouch display with rotating.
This is not a product that we hear about every day, but it exists and it is certainly a precedent. We could make another best-known example, namely the ASUS Transformer Pad that once connected to the appropriate module with keyboard and touchpad become portable in all respects.
HP is also taking an interest in the issue, and the rest of the company has already shown the intention to bring Android on additional categories with the HP Slate 21 all-in-one.
As the name suggests, this product, if and when it will be made official by HP, will present a multitouch display 14″. Full HD resolution will be, at least for the flagship model. A run what could be an almost clean version of Android 4.2 will be a quad-core Tegra SoC supported by 2 GB RAM and 16 storage with microSD slot to swell.
Present also the audio edited by Beats, three USB ports, HDMI connectivity and both data SIM card with both Wi -Fi. Staining black-yellow might not be the only one, but at least for now only HP knows whether it will actually variants with different combinations. The period of release is not yet known. It should not be in any case of an expensive product, addressing mainly the lower price range.
How portable is altogether fresh and youthful, more adaptable to the needs of that bass like web browsing, email and some multimedia content offline as well. It will certainly not be claiming to be a workstation, not born for such a purpose and the same Android is not suitable for such purposes.
One wonders, indeed, if the mobile operating system from Google really lends itself to run on laptops, and it is a subject that concerns the performance, but the user experience.
It is software designed specifically for use with devices that have no means of physical inputs or at least do not make it a predominant use, as the Transformers and similar products. The risk would therefore be to find yourself in front of a repetition of what has been seen with Windows 8/8.1, Modern whose interface is more appreciated especially in settings where keyboard and mouse are not used, all despite Microsoft’s efforts to make it more can also be used with traditional devices.
And even that Google was unguarded an OS more suited to these situations. Chrome OS, version after version, is growing and is beginning to be used more and more in the absence of a wired connection. Even better, it has a window interface, closer to how you can use classic Windows desktop. Going to see then in the range of the same HP, there are already a Chromebook 11.6″ and Chromebook 14″, the latter with Intel Celeron CPU.
This HP Slatebook 14 might be in the home of relatives rather uncomfortable. On which can boast of an important point in favor: the Play Store. The park apps for Android is definitely larger than that for Chrome OS, still constituted a majority of web apps adapted, although those that take advantage of the native capabilities offered by the system / browser are growing.
HP SlateBook 14 will be equipped with:
- A multi-touch screen of 14 inches with a resolution UltraHD and HD webcam.
- Quad-core processor NVIDIA Tegra Tegra 4 or Tegra K1.
- 2 GB of RAM.
- 16 GB of expandable storage.
- WiFi and Bluetooth.
- Beats Audio technology, 3 USB ports and HDMI port.
- Operating System Android 4.2.
The biggest news of this laptop is that it will have Google Play and therefore it is possible that any application purchased and downloaded from smartphones and tablets will work here too. HP has claimed to have increased the productivity of Android thanks to its 1080p 14-inch display and full-size keyboard.
With regard to the internal memory, as we wrote above will be expandable, but has not been reported since. In addition, it is an Android laptop, and not a Chromebook will not be provided to Google Drive, a generous cloud of Google, which is currently a standard feature on all devices of this type.
Finally, another factor to be taken strongly into consideration will be the price, which at present has not yet been informed by the U.S., which if you keep on acceptable numbers could spur many consumers to purchase. HP and low figures hardly apply to everyone, given his philosophy in high places, and so it is possible that the HP Slatebook 14 could be defeated by competition from Chromebook products that offer the same quality but with greatly reduced prices. All that remains is to wait.
