Huawei MateBook: The alternative to iPad Pro and Surface Pro 4
Huawei MateBook is a device that challenge Surface Pro and Pro iPad, taking the advantages of both products and introducing them into a single notebook 2-in-1.
At the Mobile World Congress 2016 which is held these days in Barcelona, Huawei has unveiled a new device aimed at the world of productivity. The new product, which is nothing more than a portable 2-in-1, introduces the company as part of the laptop, where the goal of the Chinese is to solve some of the historical problems of the category considered: excessive weight, poor quality the display, poor operational autonomy of single charge to name only a few.
Huawei MateBook, this is its name, is based on the experience gained by the company over the years in the more mobile blatantly areas (smartphone and smartwatch in the first place). As for the appearance, MateBook resembles a cross between an iPad Pro and one of the last of Surface Pro models.
While maintaining exemplary lightness and thickness values thanks to a meticulous design and construction process, comes with Windows 10 (Home or Professional Edition), the same operating system you use on your desktop or notebook at work.
The design is perfectly symmetrical, and the metal shell can be protected by an enclosure keyboard optionally proposal, just as we saw with the ” professional ” tablet of Apple and Surface Pro. It is an accessory widely advocated for those who need a device able to meet the typical professional environments of productivity requirements, without which the new MateBook appears naturally very limited, just as the alternatives already on the market.
Let’s move on to the technical specifications : the display used by Huawei on MateBook is an IPS LCD 12-inch 2,160×1,440 pixel resolution with a higher gamut than the two more famous competitors in the industry. According to what is revealed by the Chairman of Huawei’s Richard Yu device division, who presented the new device to the international audience, the panel should deliver great mixed color fidelity at a maximum brightness of 400 nits. Everything will be powered by a 33.7 mAh battery that can be charged through the Type-C USB port located on the body. MateBook supports the rapid charging technologies and can be brought from 0 to 60% in just two hours.
Let’s go back to accessories: Huawei provides the cover backlit keyboard, a stylus pen Call sensitivity 2048 levels MatePen with laser pointer and a MateDock to increase the availability of ports on the notebook. This includes two USB ports, one Ethernet, and also VGA and HDMI ports to connect the device to an external monitor (you can see in the gallery of images that we report the page).
Along one of the sides, it was also installed a sensor for fingerprint scanning, with which you can access a different account according to the finger used during log in. The speakers at the base of the tablet are two stereo.
Prices and availability. Huawei MateBook will be available starting next month in Europe with both Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Professional. The price starts from $699 in the market for the version with Intel Core m3, 4GB of RAM and 128 GB SSD.
