During WWDC 2014, Apple has finally unveiled its new operating system: iOS 8. 97% of users who have used its predecessor were satisfied, and this has probably pushed too many Android users to switch to the Apple platform.
With this new release the house of Cupertino on the success and experience gained with iOS 7 and further enhances the quality both in terms of user experience that offers new features to developers.
We see the main points :
1.) Interactive Notification – will give you the opportunity to respond to messages directly from the dropdown notification, as well as from the lockscreen, without interrupting what you’re doing. The third-party widgets are now supported in the Notification Center, and you can access your contacts favorites directly from the multitasking menu.
2.) Mail – as seen in Yosemite, there are improvements with regard to the management of your email (especially the iPad) to which you can assign more easily or labels, for example, make a swipe downwards to reduce an e-mail while you are writing and then resume it later. You can also add events to the calendar directly from the mail.
3.) Spotlight – will allow you to look inside your device or even on the Internet, as seen in Yosemite. If you do a search in Safari you will get, in addition to the suggestions of Google, even those of Spotlight.
4.) News also with regard to the keyboard with predictive typing Quicktype that will support the suggestion by providing suggestions as you type. It will be able to learn your kind of conversation in relation to the person with whom you speak to always provide suggestions relevant to the context. Apple has kept an eye also to privacy by ensuring that the information stored by the application never leaves your device. Special mention for supporting third-party keyboards.
5.) iMessage – new to group conversations in which, through the menu details, you will see components with its location, share your location (for an hour or for the day) or mute warnings in the group. The shared images are all available in a single screen and with Talk, you can record voice and video to share them in real time as we have seen previously with Whatsapp. From the lockscreen you can listen to voice messages and respond directly always on-the-go or take them out with a simple swipe.
6.) iCloud Drive – will give you the ability to save your files directly online, and the data will be synchronized in iOS.
7.) Healthkit – this is the application that will gather all the information related to your activities and with which you can monitor your health. It can integrate with other applications developed by third parties (both sports, such as Nike, and medical as those developed in collaboration with Mayo Clinic).
8.) Family Sharing – a new, simple and easy to share what is important with your family as photos, commitments on the calendar, reminders, or find the location of the iPhone to a specific group member. You can share music, apps, photos and videos between 6 members of the family use the same credit card (implemented a safety check prior to use of the card).
9.) iPhoto – all photos will be available on iCloud and then on all devices. You can search for photos by location, time or album, and you will have the new smart editing controls to improve the image brightness setting (automatic or manual), colors and many other parameters.
10.) Siri – Various improvements also voice assistant from Apple that now recognizes the song’s thanks to the support of Shazam while the implementation with the maps and navigation will be further improved (.. even for China ..).
The beta will be available to developers today, while others will have to wait until this fall when the new operating system iOS8 will be available for iPhone 4S, iPhone 5/5C/5S, iPod touch 5, iPad 2/Retina, iPad Air and iPad mini.
