iPad Pro as a Mac Mini monitor: you can do it!

Astropad has created a small USB-C device called Luna Display that allows you to make your iPad a screen of the Mac Mini.

It is known that Apple sells its own Mac Mini without peripherals; to get a ready-to-use workstation, you need a mouse and keyboard, but above all a monitor to view the operations that are taking place.

The solution comes from Astropad that allows you to use the iPad Pro as a Mac Mini screen via a dongle called Luna Display. This product is initially designed to turn any iPad (better if Pro) into a secondary screen, but using it with a Mac Mini, not equipped with a monitor, will become the main screen.

According to the team of Astropad, the use of the iPad Pro in this way is equivalent to having a ” completely new product ” because it is essentially macOS on the iPad through the Moon app and a normal iPad Pro when the Moon app is not started.

Astropad confirms that: ” This configuration truly combines the best of both the Mac and the iPad, with the processing power of the Mac Mini and the edge-to-edge retina display of the iPad. Using Luna, we are able to take full advantage of each pixel on full-resolution iPad.

It also offers other ways to interact with your macOS, where you can flow seamlessly from the mouse, to the keyboard, to the Apple Pencil, to tactile interactions. And since Luna works on WiFi, you have the flexibility of a completely wireless workspace “.

To get this configuration you will need: a Luna Display dongle to connect to the USB-C port of the Mac mini, the Luna app on your iPad Pro, a keyboard, a mouse and a reliable WiFi network.

The Luna Display (USB-C dongle) can be purchased from the Luna Display website for $80.
