iPhone 5C – Review
Some people would say, What is to be reviewed on a smartphone equal to another? Well, with this review, we want to be able to repair this thought towards this iPhone 5c, accused of being only an iPhone 5 with a different shell on the surface, it is really so.
We find some change and especially the iPhone performs a function, inside the Apple iDevices no less important than that of 5s.
But let us. I like it in the reviews I will now speak of the appearance of the device. As mentioned, it is (if you want) an iPhone 5 under new guises. This is because we have a new body. After about 4 years where Apple showed off its aluminum, and the glass has decided to make a small leap backwards, introducing an iPhone after years of plastic. It is a shell completely in plastic, reinforced inside with an aluminum shell.
This plastic is not the same that we find in classic smartphone seems to be something else (I cannot even say what), almost like a kind of metal to the touch. The fact is though that it is a plastic, glossy type. We do not have more then the ” Apple ” embedded in a different material but always in plastic. Regarding the ” face ” of this iPhone 5c, we find the same glass of 5 or 5s.
With this new plastic shell, of course, were also redesigned the various slots and buttons. Those in the volume have a round appearance but do not seem very edges of the rectangles. The same applies to the unlock button. For concerns when the speakers are only 4 holes and 1 for the microphone.
Returning to the body and the design of the iPhone 5c I have to say I really satisfied. The shape, more or less, that remains square to which we are accustomed for some years but with the chamfered side. Just this bevel gives us a really firm grip ergonomics and a no less.
When I picked it up for the first time I was astonished, my hand was exulting that grip. In practice, thanks to the rectangular shape but at the same time round, thanks to the type of plastic that has a good grip, in hand seem to really well balance. Also, another factor that gives the plastic shell to the device, is that on the robustness. It almost seems that you cannot ever break (and several drop tests have shown this).
With regard to weight and size, we have the same dimensions as the iPhone 5s and 5, we find only a few millimeters more in the edges and in the thickness ( 1 mm at most ), while the weight is higher by about 20g, which must say they feel a lot. The 5c has good ergonomics and grip even in this, in spite of weights a hair more.
In terms of aesthetics, there is nothing to say, it is only permissible to remember (the less informed) that is not in the Touch ID, then we find the classic Home button. We now go to all the rest. The camera is the same as that of 5, 8 megapixel camera and single LED flash.
The display also, the classic Retina 4″, which, in my opinion, is great. With regard to the specific hardware of the iPhone 5c there is little to say, being almost the same as the now-retired iPhone 5, then we find the A6 processor 32-bit. Instead, you changed the battery 1507 mAh now, I have to say it really is long-lived. Especially compared to the iPhone 5 and 5s, 5c lasts slightly longer.
Another new feature is found in the audio department. The speaker at the bottom of the device have a power superior sound compared with other models (probably due to the plastic shell) despite being more “Spartan”.
Finally, we go a little to analyze the existence of this iPhone 5c. Early rumors gave him as iPhone “cheap”, but we know that is not so. Apple does not seem to be willing to step into this segment of the market (which may cause them to lose value) but not for those who want to save there is still the iPhone 4s or even the second-hand market. Apple, with the introduction of 5c, he simply wanted to offer buyers something else, an alternative.
In practice, if he had not, we would have had 5 and 5s, aesthetically pretty much the same (there is also the question of factor staining. The iPhone 5 would keep the black slate – despite the problems related to that color – or would change in gray Sidereal?). So instead we have two smartphones, a more powerful and refined (the 5s) and a less powerful ( the specification only ), but colorful, and if you will, more youthful look.
